Race For Life

Breaking my friends-only rule for this, to spread the word as far as possible.

Two years ago, my mum and I took part in Cancer Research UK's Race For Life. At that time her mother, my Nana, was recovering from cancer (she has since been given the all-clear, though she hadn't when we did the Race). I remember seeing all these people taking part ( Read more... )

It's mainly the Brits among you that I'm pleading to at the moment, but if anyone from anywhere else *does* want to sponsor me, let me know, and I'll investigate the possibility of international sponsorship.

Let me know if you'll be able to accept sponsers from the US, because I would be honoured to do so, if possible.

(My Dad died four years ago from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, so it has definitely touched my life ...)

Wow, Rhi, I had no idea. My friend, Fe (who just passed Feb 24th), did have Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Please let me know as well. Do you have a paypal account? Maybe we could send our donations through British friends if you can't figure out how to get international donations.

*hugs*

We have Relay for Life here in June every year and I've been doing it for hmm... about 6 years now. Our schools each sign up as teams and it's an all-night relay. It's not a race - you can run or walk as you wish. It's such a wonderful and inspiring event. One of my former students has a brain tumor and she was the "poster child" last year. :) Everyone applauded when she went on the track. (She said, "Why is everyone clapping?" "They're clapping for you, sweety!") Plus I've had a number of relatives and friends die from various forms.

It is a great cause and that's wonderful you are participating! :D
