Rewatch of Supernatural 2022

Season 5Season 5 was the first season I watched live, and it’s been a really long time since I’ve watched it. Rewatching it, particularly knowing what comes in later seasons, I have to say it was a very emotionally gripping season. There were only 2 episodes that I felt were duds ( Read more... )

how could show have implied a happy ending and then left Dean to try to live a happy life while knowing ever minute that Sam was getting tortured!!!
So true! Glad they continued the show in that sense!

The hiatus between seasons 5 and 6 was pure torture!

Watching season 5 live must have been agony. It was hard enough waiting and desperately hoping for some kind of resolution to the rift in the brothers' relationship, even when I was watching one episode straight after another ( ... )

I couldn't stop thinking "but what happened to the plane? Did it crash? How did they get out of that?" Oh, well.

Gotta say, that never even occurred to me, I was more flabbergasted by them being on the plane. I just assumed it landed and they stole a car. I do wonder how Kripke decided to get them out of Lucifer's grip--did he think, 'wow, I've written them into a hole and how do I get them out of it? Aw, it's all supernatural anyway, let's just magic them someplace else!'

Pellegrino and the Nick story line were so good at the beginning. Too bad later seasons drained all the drama and pathos out of it.

OMG did they keep Lucifer/Nick around waaaay too long!!!

...in what way Dean didn't match Becky's imagination. And was it just a throwaway funny line, I wonder, or was Kripke having a little poke?

I always read that as supposed to be a 'humorous' poke at all the fans who rave about Jensen's looks--not that it was very funny in that context...

Wasn't the point that the angels couldn't find Dean...But they angels knew about Dean ( ... )

For me, the most disturbing moment of this episode, in retrospect, was when Dean found out Sam was captured; his initial reaction is to run out and save Sam, but then he chooses to stay with the townsfolk instead.

This comment of yours along with your notice of Dean remaining silent when Bobby lays into Sam in the previous episode leads me to think you really identify with Sam LOL

You are right, it would appear that Dean's actions in both instances are indications that he doesn't care about Sam any more, but I guess my read is a little less harsh, more along the lines that Dean is hurt and needs time to sort his reactions, and with the townsfolk in the basement I thought he wanted to go to Sam but his responsibility to civilians outweighed what he personally wanted to do.
