b) Snape’s reaction to Hermione’s teeth. I have to say, as much as I love her, I snickered at that scene. It baffles me that most of fandom rises up in outrage over his comment.

'k, the thing is, most fics I found with the keyword 'jealousy' search, it involved Snape's jealousy, and the ones with Hermione had moments of jealousy over Lily, that popped up now and then. But this one had a plot arc dealing with it, so I thought I'd link that, because it's kind of a major thing for them, rather than the usual 'oh, I fell in love you with not because you're a smart Gryffindor Muggle-born like Lily, but because of your own innate awesomeness!'

Strange. I guess it hits home harder because its one of the few things she couldn't stand for at that moment, and she handles everything else reasonably well, ,unlike the boys which get more angrier at each remark. Personally if there's those who say he's playing his role and "really has a soft heart underneath" (as so many seem to say) just saw an inopportune time they should think how much strength that took him to do. He hated being picked on and here's a girl who gets picked on (depending who you ask) and he has the best opprtunity to make his 'persona' known whilst hurting her.
When I read it I just thought 'wow, harsh but brilliant remark! Definitely worthy of getting Harry and co to hate him more.' Plus I was too distracted trying to make sure Neville and Slytherins were all where/how they should be.

I’m enjoying the HP common room because it’s fun getting to talk about my opinions, it’s been suppressed for so long, I’m relieved to be able to express myself there- the problem is that some of the pro-fans get on my case. Like, I’ve had this marathon convo with a Ginny fan who hates me for criticizing her passivity in CoS. Yep! I blame my parents, they had it cut ruthlessly short when I was a kid and I got used to it! We lived in Fiji, though, so it was more practical in the heat.
