Have you read In Blood Only? That's my absolute favorite Severitus.

That's the one!

I don't know if you were in HP fandom (forgive me if I'm telling you anything you already know) but that was a really really popular idea and I can remember several round-ups and themed lists if you want to search for them.

I'm a newbie. I went looking for Harry/Hermione fic a few months ago and somehow ended up tumbling into Hermione/Snape. *facepalm* Baffling, I know. So my experience with fandom is pretty much non-existent. If you have any recs or links to those lists, I'd appreciate it...*wheedles*

Re: In Blood Only.I read the last chapter- I had to see how it ends! I couldn't handle it if it were tragic- and I found it breath-taking. Their interactions are just so realistic and I can hear their voices in my head, it's so well-written. I'm looking forward to OD'ing on all the chapters! *bounces*

*hugs you*

I have friends a bit like that too - one at the moment is overseas and somehow like cut us ALL out of her life until it suits her to let us back in. Doesn't answer emails - even to let us know she's alive. >: (

It's seriously not cool that she just assumes you'll always be there, though, when she isn't reciprocating really. A friendship is like any other relationship - it takes two. But good on your for sticking with her - that makes you a very loyal friend. :)

Thank you. I don't know if blind loyalty is all that praise-worthy, but I don't have many people with the amount of history I have with her, I can't just cut her out of my life, even if I'm unhappy with the way she's so dismissive of our friendship. I know it doesn't mean as much to her as it does to me, but what good would it do to just sever ties altogether? I wonder if it's just the wuss in me speaking, though. *eyeroll*

I'm sorry about your friend that ditched the rest of you guys. *huggles* It doesn't take much effort to reply and say she's fine. >_<

At least if I text Katherine, I'll get a reply from her- or her brother. *sighs* I really envy the way she has the guys in her life wrapped around her little finger. She'll order them to take care of things for her and they'll fall over themselves to do it. I WANT THAT POWER.

GOD, I wish this show was called Legend of the Mother Confessor instead - I've been saying that for ages! Hehehe. But, having that said...I don't really cut it up as much as I used to. I'm happy having Richie around and I've become a lot more fond of him lately. I mean, I loved Leo...but having Leo and Phillip around just made me appreciate Richie more. *huggles him* There is always a lot to see about an episode that is totally improbably but happened anyway and the biggest thing there was that Leo had to die. In order for Richard to be the seeker again, Leo had to go and it was better for him to go protecting Kahlan than to die for something stupid. I'm glad he went the way he did, because then it didn't diminish any of the love I had for him. Then I can just let it go with grace, the way Kahlan did. (My GOD, she handles things amazingly.)

*squees at your icon* GAHHH! Ep 11, y/y? I just d/l it, I haven't had time to watch it yet, but if the reaction of fandom is any indication...*prepares to die from the awesome* I came across a few GIFs of Kahlan v Kahlan. I think it's started a new ship, lol. *headdesks at fandom*

The thing with Richard is that he's the hero and he's CONSTANTLY requiring a rescue! I really did like him in the second season and then it's gone back to the ol' 'Richard's in trouble again' thing. Very annoying. But I do like his increased maturity as compared to the first season. [Which, OMG, I now have on dvd, thanks to relatives visiting from the US!]

I'm glad he went the way he did, because then it didn't diminish any of the love I had for him. I didn't think I'd like Leo so much and it was so surprising to realize I found him rather endearing in his inept attempts to woo Cara! Lol, just bare that muscled ( ... )

OMEFFINGGOD!!! EP ELEVENTY IS THE MOST AMAZING EP EVER!!!!! I adored it and it's fantastic and now I want to watch it again. Bridget is he most fabulous chicka ever!! She playes THREE different versions of Kahlan, so very distinctly different that it rather blows your mind! LOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEIIIIIITTTT!!!!! ♥♥♥ And her hair...*dead* This fandom pwns all, it really does ( ... )

Hee, I'm thinking of Cylons now, with your talk of three different versions of Kahlan! Too bad we couldn't keep one or two copies around, I always love it when we have people interacting with their alternate selves! But not if it means the original character is out of whack in some way, like lacking a criticial part of their personality.

[Tangent: llike when B'Elanna Torres was split into her human and Klingon selves, that was laaaame- god, the human was so whiny and pitiful, like there are no humans that are brave and resourceful, ugh!]

I hear you on Richard- I do appreciate the way he's growing up and growing into his leadership role. It just annoys me that he's so ill-equipped and inept at times, I know it makes sense considering that he wasn't trained for the role of Seeker- times like that, I wish that it was as Kahlan had expected in the pilot, that Zedd had trained Richard so he wasn't a newbie at everything relevant to his destiny. It's irritating in fantasy when the wise mentor is all 'let the kid have a life, be a normal ( ... )

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Mentalist/Castle similarities in that last Castle episode. Don't get me wrong, I like Castle but because I am first and foremost a Mentalist fan, that whole 'reading mind' sequence did kind of irritate me .... just because I dunno, I love that scene so much in The Mentalist and ... okay, I watch Psych and they continually take the piss out of The Mentalist for "ripping off" their show (even though they're NOT the same show at all ... that's a whole different issue) and the first few times it was funny and free publicity for The Mentalist but now it's "Okay, we GET THE POINT" .... and know they didn't put that scene in Castle to copy The Mentalist at all but in my mind I think I'm just fed up with seeing the same plotlines play out on two shows so close to each other. This isn't just to do with Castle/Mentalist but other shows too. I know it's my fault for watching so many damn crime shows but every time they regurgitate storylines, I lose my faith in show writers just a bit more ( ... )

They were pretty blatant, huh? I mean, okay, most people would brush it off as coincidence, but where's the fun in that, right? :P Part of the fun of being in so many fandoms is picking out the similarities! Mother and I have a bit of a competition, actually, it makes watching more interactive!

watch Psych and they continually take the piss out of The Mentalist for "ripping off" their show (even though they're NOT the same show at all ... that's a whole different issue)

ARGH. That bugs me so much. I hate it when fans pay out Mentalist and say it's a crappy rip-off. Yes, the guys consulting have way out-there talents; but the Psych dude really IS psychic and Jane is not! [Though he might as well be, given that Jane=God in the show; never was a character more self-aware than Jane with his 'This is God speaking']

Their motivations for doing what they do, their personality traits, their lives...completely different! I recognize there's an element of similarity, but RIPPING OFF, no.

I think I'm just fed up with seeing the same ( ... )

Oooh really? I thought I was the only one who found them irritating (cos I know a few fans of both shows who find the comments hilarious!) I don't know whether you saw the one last week but Shawn was touching his head (as if to read minds) and Gus said something like "I think anyone who does that looks weird" to which Shawn says "Doesn't Simon Baker do that?" and Gus is like "no" and then Shawn says "Well, at least we have that" (that was a very general paraphrase of the scene!) and I was like "For GOD'S SAKE they are NOT the same show." They're not even the same GENRE of show and the whole mood is different, not to mention the fact Shawn is trying to convince people that he is a psychic whereas Jane's stance is that there is no such thing as psychics.

I love Severitus and I know tons of Snape-mentors-Harry type fics. They were where I first started. Funny how your HP fandom life is an exact reflection of my own! *hugs you fondly

My recs are from a while ago, since I've moved into HG/SS now. There are probably more recent ones out there that I don't know. But these are all classics should keep you busy for a while :-)

Resonance by GreenGecko (darkirony) and its sequels, Revolution and Resolution are definitely epic-length, beautifully written, addictive.

In Blood Only by EM Snape, already mentioned above.

Harry Potter and the Battle of Wills by Jocelyn (jocelyncs)

Blood Magic by Gateway Girl (gatewaygirl)

Go with the Tide by Tantz, and its sequel, Go with the Tide II: Seeing is Believing, which contained inspiration for the latest chapter of Iridescent Snow, by the way ;-) (Which you haven't read yet *teasing sniff)

The original Severitus that started it all: (but be warned, it's an abandoned fic)--A Father's Sin by Severitus

The mother of all Snape-mentors-Harry: A Year Like None Other by ( ... )

And *squee* about the fic you just finished reading... I'm in a mood for more Severitus these days... will have to go check it out.

I have to warn you, though, there's an unexpected ship that crops up midway through. It really threw me, but it was written very realistically and I bought into it, but yeah, I did want to smash something when I first realized it was gonna happen. Wanna be spoiled or are you okay?

PS. The fics you've rec'd- there aren't any major ships, are there? Because I really love the mentor thing, but if I've gotta put up with Ron/Hermione in the background, I will trash my laptop or something drastic!

*thinks*

Blood Magic--there are 'ships, slash ones. Threw me, too, but I didn't find it terribly distracting. The father-son dynamic is so well-written.

In Blood Only--none that I can recall

AYLNO--no ships, at least none that are central enough for me to remember, it's so freaking epic and it was such a long time ago... But again, who cares, it's ridiculously good

Resonance--lots of random Harry ships. It's part of his character though--he's not well-adjusted enough in this fic for normal relationships. Snape has a very well-developed plot arc with an OFC

Battle of Wills- don't remember...

Go with the Tide--nothing till the end

I will say that none of these ships interfered too much with my reading, though. They're all good strong fics :)
