Woo-hoo for taking down your mom! Excellent job : )

I am with you on the OTP thing, I feel ya. I dont read fantasy but I am thinking about fanfiction and all the bed-hopping and what not, and maybe I am Victorian in that sense but I usually have one partner, like Hotch and Prentiss, and sure I have Gideon and Prentiss but it was when Hotch was married and as soon as he is available, its back to Hotch and Prentiss, it is always about the one couple....maybe I watched too many soaps growing up and have super couple issue. I dont know, but I feel how I feel. And while I dabble in multi-pairings and multi-ships, enjoying individual stories here and there, only that OTP story can give me that sheer and utter joy.

*evil grin* It felt good. And you know, even if she beats me every game for the rest of the year, I'm still going to have this moment to crow over. Mwahahaha.

OTPs rule. And fanfics offer an advantage in that area. You already know the characters and who's your favorite and who you want them to be with, so the main thing is to dig up some fics on that particular pairing. Okay, it's not quite that simple, since there's a hefty load of crappage out there, but at least you know what to expect going in, there aren't any nasty surprises. With regular books, the main character might be irritating, or they might not end up with who you want them to, it's just fraught with peril and potential heartbreak!

Lol, CM and TWW are prime examples of shows with multiple ships, I think every single pairing imaginable has been ficced! I actually had a hankering for Sam/Ainsley the other day, but that'd be pretty rare, I'm sure.

Go to www.westwingstories.com, the National Library, the mecca for so much West Wing fic you wont know what to do with yourself. That's where all 653 of my stories are and you will find a nice amount of Sam/Ainsley. I dont know if you'll want to read it all but there is some.

Ah, this is so awesome! It has about a hundred fics for Sam/Ainsley [there has to be a few decent ones in there], thanks so much for the link!

:O 653? Frakking hell! When do you sleep?!

NAOMI NOVIK. This woman is a GODDESS. There are dragons, sailing ships, Napoleon, historical accurate details, good het ships, slashy context, humor, drama, stuff that make you cry like a little girl, stuff that fills you with a good old adrenaline rush. You can't put the books down right up until they end in the gut-wrenching cliff-hanger ( ... )

Dude, Naomi Novik is awesome! And she totally makes me cry in every single book, I'm not ashamed to admit it! Her writing is so frakking good, she's one of the people I mean when I talk about so talented I have to stop and read a few pages again and again to savor the awesomeness. I actually don't ship anyone in these books, unbelievably, I just love Temeraire so much, and the bond between him and Laurence, that's enough to sustain me ( ... )

Anyway, I tried a few of her books and wasn't really sold, Acorna, the unicorn girl, magic horn, something or other...?

Yeah. She wrote those while she was in her Crap Phase.

I actually couldn't make it through any of Eddings' works other than the Belgariad/Malloreon because, well, I'd already read those stories. ^^;; I loved Polgara, kind of wanted to smack Garion, and oh -- SILK. He's like a dude Vala. (The Velvet storyline, though, could have passed on. Even if the snake-->bodice thing was pretty damn funny.)

Naomi Novik is ALL KINDS of awesome.

The self-plagiarizing... *sighs fondly* Didn't bother me as much because I knew that I'd love them both. I know what I like, within very narrow parameters, so him doing the same concept twice was actually a good thing for me! :D

Comment of win! HEE! *wipes away tears of laughter*

Re: smacking Garion. Dude. TOTALLY. It's like, snap out of it and get a move on. *sighs*

I wish characters like Vala were the heroines of more [good] fantasies. I get so sick of this noble idiot thing. Nobody gives a damn about your integrity, just get the job done already and quit with the angst.

Huh, I think I have those ebooks somewhere... I started to read the first ones I think, but got distracted by something else...

I was going to recommend Anne Bishop's Dark Jewels Trilogy 9NOT Black Jewles like some people think) but it's really dark, especially the first book. Still a great though.

I fyou want fantasy books, read Raymond E. Feist :D Absolutely brilliant! (start with Magician, it will make more sense)

You got distracted? And just left them?! *sputters* They're DAMN GOOD, GIVE THEM A CHANCE, FCOL!

Anne Bishop. You know, I hear the name a lot but the darkness scares me a little. I like the light, light is good, but if you say it's worth reading... *ventures over to the dark side*

Ah, now Raymond Feist is another familiar name. People have been recommending him ever since high school but those books were so massive, I was a little intimidated! But no more procrastination, I'll give him a shot. Thanks for the recs. :D
