I'll go easy on some fics from a few months ago that use the canon characters' names, even if obviously given that the pilot has only just aired, there's very little chance the characterization is going to be in the

I made a similar discovery yesterday. I wantede Ward and Fitz-Simmons and ran into things from last year and did a lot of WTFing at the whole thing.

Clint/Coulson is somewhat like McShep (and Steve/Tony is also a looot like McShep). But if you like Clint and want to read about Clint, most of the things you'll find are also Clint/Coulson, which, erm, no not for me, because I seem to be unable to ship Coulson with anyone.

If you wanna read a silly/funny ficlet with actual Agents of SHIELD characters, I have one. It's about to be beta read, I think I'll be posting it today or tomorrow and there will be link on my LJ. :)

P.S. Skye is wonderful. So are Fitz-Simmons. And Ward. Even though most people I know kinda hate his guts already. And May. I soooo wanna know her backstory. I always liked Coulson, but unlike general fandom I'm not gaga about him. It's a solid like and honest apperciation.

I'm the last person to be all 'but so-and-so have shared no screentime, wtf is with people shipping them?' because so many of my OTPs are super non-canon with zero basis in reality, but Clint/Coulson baffles me. I mean, at least McShep and Steve/Tony are based on main characters who are team-members and their canons are all about their interactions! But I'm confused and really jealous at how Clint/Coulson has taken off - wish my crack!pairings that I ship unironically had half that support in fandom!

(I don't read Coulson fics, but I would ship him with Darcy if there were more fics for them- because Darcy is the fandom bike and I believe she works perfectly with everyone. EVERYONE)

My theory about C/C is.... Coulsong was already loved by nerdy fans when Clint showed up (and he showed up in Thor for, like, two minutes, and they shared some banter (where Clint was obviously following orders, but fandom likes to interpret that as wuuuuuuuv.) And suddenly here they had a handsome guy they could ship Coulson with and voila. It's somewhat like McShep, one is the nerd hero and the other is the handsome one. I can't really ship Coulson with anyone, but I like him okay. I'm not gaga about him, like most of the fandom is, he's okay, and there are plenty of opther characters I really ADORE

*nodnod* Your theory is fairly sound and consistent with fandom trends - it's just that I barely even noticed Coulson at all, even though he popped up in several movies! And it's not like the actor is as popular or well-known as other Joss staples; if it were, say, Nathan Fillion, I'd totally understand the fandom hysteria.

Ugh, the marvel_bang is posting right now and 80% of the fics are for C/C. My needs are not being met! >_<

Darcy is the fandom bicycle and I mean that in the most positive of ways. SHIP DARCY WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS. She seriously vibes off everyone, it is a thing of beauty. Although I haven't seen any fics of her with Bucky - I must investigate this...

I occasionally enjoy well written Darcy/Loki.

And it's made me nostalgic for days when sci-fi with team bonding was more common, rather than all the tragic dark gritty angstfests that abound these days. I'm quite enjoying it so far, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a new show!

Each to their own, but I'm just a fragile flower that it does my squishy heart good to see characters that enjoy each other's company and aren't afraid to show it - while Skye provides that delicious outsider tension and we still don't really know her true loyalties and yet we can see she so clearly wants to be part of S.H.I.E.L.D (my god, that's such a pain to type out, lol) and A NEW SHIP, YAYYYY, IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!

Haha, yeah, I'm basically downloading tons of shows, but not getting around to watching them, so I get where you're coming from. Welp, you can always wait til the end of the season and then do a marathon? I'm pretty sure it's been renewed so there's no need to fear getting invested and then having your heart broken.

IKR? It makes no sense. I'd get the reverse - this is a new show so if people tagged fics with Avengers so that they reach a wider audience, okay, that'd have some logic to it, but if you're writing a fic for a massive fandom, why tag it S.H.I.E.L.D when it's only a baby show or even last year, when it was pre-gestation?

And I was so squeeful at seeing her gorgeous face and the wry humor she brought was my fave, but uggghhh, I wanted more screen-time. Hopefully she'll be on more when HIMYM finishes up and Cobie's free...
