I'll go easy on some fics from a few months ago that use the canon characters' names, even if obviously given that the pilot has only just aired, there's very little chance the characterization is going to be in the

My theory about C/C is.... Coulsong was already loved by nerdy fans when Clint showed up (and he showed up in Thor for, like, two minutes, and they shared some banter (where Clint was obviously following orders, but fandom likes to interpret that as wuuuuuuuv.) And suddenly here they had a handsome guy they could ship Coulson with and voila. It's somewhat like McShep, one is the nerd hero and the other is the handsome one. I can't really ship Coulson with anyone, but I like him okay. I'm not gaga about him, like most of the fandom is, he's okay, and there are plenty of opther characters I really ADORE.

Like Darcy! I LOVE DARCY!!! And I ship her with Steve and sometimes Bucky. But yes, Darcy gets along with everyone, and I occasionally enjoy well written Darcy/Loki.

Ward is pretty good so far, for the reasons you put so well here. He's not a macho dumbass, he actually listens (to Skye, for instance, even though she represents everything he's against) and considers things and accepts that he isn't always right. And he seems to be a pretty patient as a mentor, and really wants to do a good job with the training, and he's a mama bear. Like, he feels team is his responsibility/he should protect them? And that has him in a twist.

May is interesting and still closed off and we know a little about her. I wanna know more! AND YES I SHIP IT TOO, THANK GOD I AM NOT ALONE! *highfive* Here is the fic I've written after watching the pilot ep: Nothing says friendship like rewatching Star Wars. And right now I'm working on Skye & Ward fic.

*nodnod* Your theory is fairly sound and consistent with fandom trends - it's just that I barely even noticed Coulson at all, even though he popped up in several movies! And it's not like the actor is as popular or well-known as other Joss staples; if it were, say, Nathan Fillion, I'd totally understand the fandom hysteria.

Ugh, the marvel_bang is posting right now and 80% of the fics are for C/C. My needs are not being met! >_<

Darcy is the fandom bicycle and I mean that in the most positive of ways. SHIP DARCY WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS. She seriously vibes off everyone, it is a thing of beauty. Although I haven't seen any fics of her with Bucky - I must investigate this...

Yesssss, it's great that you see and value the same traits in Ward as I do! I groan at fandom's reaction being 'he's so boring and blah', like, he doesn't need to be OTT and alpha male to be worthy, FFS. It's like people don't know what to do with a lead who's NOT a douche! Like you said, it's lovely how he pays attention to people and considers their contributions, even if he may not respect their personal beliefs, that has no bearing on the situation. And I would love Ward as a mentor, he's the best mama bear everrrrr. He's put so much of his heart and soul into it, makes me love him even more, d'aww.

Which is why the latest ep really hit me in the gut - I didn't want him to be hurt like that! But I love Skye, so I am conflicted. AUGH, THE FEELS.

Hysteria is a good word to describe it. Coulson is likeable and cool and neat and all that BUT I DO NOT GET THE HYSTERIA. But okay, fine. I'll be in my little corner and enjoy things as I see fit, lol. I ahve yet to find a Marvel character that I really hate (wait, that might be General Ross, lol). But that's it. I like them all, and of course I enjoy some more than others but so far MCU has been amazing in this regard. So many characters that I genuinely enjoy.

WHY IS DRACY/LOKI OF DECENT KIND SO RARE WHY WHY WHYYYY. WRITE ME SOME. *POUTS* (If you want to, of course!)

I LOVE Skye/Ward. LOVE. The latest ep was haaarrrrd, but it added awesome layers to the ship - like, he walks into that interrogation room where Miles and Skye are sitting and he is still protecting Skye and totally fails to stop caring for her. They have such interesting push and pull dynamic and clearly affect each other and it's lovelyyy........ I just like them A LOT and will be writing more :D Do let me know if you read/how you liked it.
