Last night we went to a spectacular wedding reception at a
restored art deco masterpiece
on Lake Ontario.

The Palais Royale used to be the place to take your Saturday night date for a night of jitterbugging and dancing to jazz bands in the 30s and 40s. My mother used to complain that my father never took her there. (They dated in the 40s.)  I suspect ( Read more... )

1. I finally saw "The King's Speech."

What a fabulous movie!

All the buzz about performances deserving the Academy Awards is true. You immediately feel empathy for Bertie, the man who never expected to have to be in the spotlight and make speeches despite his stammering, never mind leading a nation through a World War.

and that is why I haven't been online much recently.

The closing on the house was yesterday.

Echo comes to his new home today. We've missed His Highness.

and we've moved to our new digs.

Still lots of stuff to move out of the house before the end of the month. Echo's on vacation until we've finished moving over the rest of our things and set up his area. We want the first few days he spends here to be quiet ones, with us around to help him adjust.

I naiively volunteered to get into the back seat of a friend's two-door car because I'm shorter than M and I'd be able to fit my shorter legs in much more easily.

She was driving us around and there was a lot of getting in and out of that back seat.

Finally my right knee had enough and said to me,

As we were leaving the house yesterday,  cycope and I noticed a dead bird.

Using my Holmesian skills at examining the evidence, I deduced that an animal had had its way with the poor thing and then abandoned it--on our sidewalk.

My prime suspect was the cat belonging to the frat next door.

and the highways seem restful and organized in comparison.  :-)

1. Visiting our friends whom we haven't seen in 1.5 years.

2. The Indigo store, where I did some writing.
