I haven't been posting on it (yet) but I have been watching the new season of True Blood and greatly enjoying it--what a relief to have some TV escapism back! And today I just finished a big job so I thought it would be a good chance to recap on the first few eps while waiting for the new one.

First of all: Eric! Rocking that tracksuit.
Word! The gay thing in the store was hi-larious.
Hoyt's crispy delicious baby line had me in stitches for ages.
Lafayette on that sofa broke my heart.
There's more at the time, but that's all I remember in hindsight. I was gutted to find no episode this week.

Although new found respect for Bill when he solved Sookie's little situation with Jessica's family - bout time he grew some balls around her.
Sookie - I was torn between being righteously outraged at her lack of respect for Eric and admiringly gobsmacked by her gutsy display. All I kept thinking was 'Girl he can detach your head from your neck if he so chooses'!!!
Awww - Jason such a conflicted soul who is as malleable as butter. But still kind of begrudgingly adorable with it.
I see Hoyt now and am conflicted because all I keep seeing is Nick the Siren from *that* episode of Supernatural. And I wonder if Hoyt has a hidden side in there that is gonna explode....but yes Jessica/Hoyt = Extremely shippable.

Hee. I think Bill is a good straight man to Eric's droll though. I can't say I actively fangirl either of them yet, but I find Eric more like chocolate topping and Bill like vanilla icecream. ;)
I always find it amusing when you and other Eric fans comment on the series because it's from such a different perspective. I only just managed to see that there was anything amazing in Sookie standing up to Eric, anything more than normal assertiveness. So yeah, fascinating to hear your take!
But yeah, don't mess with a man who gets foils!
Thankfully I do not watch Supernatural so had no idea Hoyt had been in it. His image as the charming, shy boy next door remains unsullied for me. ;)

You're right about Lafayette's amorality being interesting--I guess I hadn't thought that that would disappear with him being a vampire, but you're right--it would have probably tipped the balance. I do wonder if Eric will come back some time and say he wants to take him up on the offer though!

I'm so happy Lafayette is sticking around (although surprised too that they didn't turn him and wondering what is next.)
Still don't care much for Bill, Eric or Sookie.
I thought the flag football scene with Jason in the first episode was hilarious with the choice of sappy music in the background.
Jessica is more interesting than I expected and I'm enjoying her/Hoyt.
I wish we were getting more Sam. Or less silliness and more smart Sam.
Maryann is great. I remember watching Michele Forbes way back in the day on Guiding Light. She's always played a quasi-villain so very well.
I miss sarcastic Tara too.

And! I'm totally with you on the yay-for-more-Eric, sad-for-not!vamp-Lafayette and instashipping-Jessica/Hoyt!
Sookie/Bill leaves me pretty lukewarm as romances go, but the rest of the characters are so interesting that it more than makes up for it. I'm really really enjoying how much this 'verse plays around with amoral characters and predator/prey. So many delightful gray areas :) And SOOOO much delightful snark to accompany them!

Thanks dear! I'm glad we're on the same page. I'm lukewarm on Bill and Sookie too, but the 'verse is so fascinating and the support cast is magnificent. The combination of sarcasm/snark/humour with schlock-horror gore and high melodrama and dark morality is so unique: I love it!
