Not sure what you mean about adaptability, other than them adapting to the journey... the whole idea was about how each of them is changed by the journey (which, frankly, can't really bring out the best in anyone) until it got out of hand.
I'm glad you like them! :)

I'm glad you like Gojyo's; I liked it mostly for the imagery but wasn't sure about the characterisation as I don't write Gojyo that often. It's good to hear you think I got him. :)

I'm also glad you think Goku's works because that was the one that gave me the most trouble (mostly because I'm not sure on my Goku-voice at all); I wanted to show exactly what you said (yay!) but wasn't sure if he was being too dense or too wise or both at the same time. But it seemed like a Goku-ish thing to say.

Seems to me that you got it down pat. Way to go. But it's odd how Gokuu, the most straightforward of the four, is the hardest voice to capture convincingly. Possibly because TTBOMR we never hear him soliloquizing in the manga. Hey, talk is for *talk*- to other people, right? No point in talking to /yourself/.

Exactly! That and I'm better at insane or at least disturbed people. Issues are much easier to write than the lack of them, and Goku is one of the most issue-less people there are (at least in Saiyuki).
Plus, yes - Goku monologues seem OOC because Goku isn't really the type to talk to himself.
