Is There Something Over There?

Richmond looks towards a point in the past, but the soft-focus montage refuses to materialise. It must be a glitch. He can code blindfolded and half-mad on absinthe (and has--thank you, Denholm), but he's rubbish with hardware. Roy would give it a forceful technical tap while Moss wired it up and Jen gave it that look.

When he tries to explain that maybe it's like a circuit that won't close without them, David gives him a too-gentle pat on the shoulder and a sympathetic squint before slouching downstairs to walk his dog.

David's proper normal--writes for a newspaper, confuses Dani Filth with Glenn Danzig--but is really a bit nice. Other neighbours would complain about the music, but David came up worrying why it stopped. At least David missed him, if only for background noise.

'You could just,' David says haltingly when he returns later with unsolicited tomato toasties, 'tell me about it.'

Telling's harder, because you can't gloss over difficult bits with music and scene changes, but Richmond manages. David talks back instead of just blinking. And the offer of walking the dog together once he's better doesn't sound terrible, even if it would have to be in the daytime.
