A topic I've been pondering

I saw this at Verbicide's via Greyaenigma's friendspage, and was immediately fascinated by the graphic (how "Spiritual" is placed in direct opposition of "Judeo/Christian" for example, among other things) so I went over and did it, with interesting results:

You fit in with:
Spiritualism

Your ideals are mostly spiritual, but in an ( Read more... )

Yeah, I did that one, too. Their reasoning is a little weird. (I know lots of very spiritual Christians, for example.)

I like the Belief-O-Matic better, because it has more flexible answers, and doesn't have graphs that make my head hurt from disagreeing so emphatically with their worldview.

I think the weirdest thing about that for me is that it A) puts Spiritualism as more rational than Agnosticism and B) groups both religions and degrees (fundamentalism) is in the right corner, but what is Hinduism doing next to it? All Hindis one step from fundamentalism?? Also, it's annoying that Scientology is placed under "Scientific" (someone that doesn't understand it?) and Atheist is listed as more rational than Agnosticism, which I strongly disagree with. Sigh, grr.

<..it's annoying that Scientology is placed under *Scientifi* (someone that doesn't understand it?)> LOL
But I agree with most/all of your well-made points.
I think I got Spiritual over Agnostic or Humanist in a circular way (i.e. describing myself as 'spiritual', although I didn't see any questions where I could define myself as sgnostic/humanist that directly).
I actually don't disagree with the results - in fact I admit to feeling snug about being able to 'come out' as Spiritual while still identifying strongly with the 'Reason' end of things (80% woo! whatever that means! *L*)
Hey, if it all were as simple as this...I think you're taking it too seriously, G :)

Where did that icon come from?

Well, I don't disagree with the classifications I've seen it give. I just hate the chart. (Love the sinner.)

This icon? It's from Cat and Girl.
