I wanted to make it clear that Tezuka is sitting up and reading, with a book in one hand and Karupin in the other, while Ryouma is napping curled up to his side. Also, I really do think that Karupin might make glasses-stalking a habit, given his propensity to chase shiny/fuzzy/interesting things. And given Tezuka's over-protectiveness of his glasses, I foresee him thwarting each and every attempt, and it turning into a game (although Tezuka, of course, will never admit it). Karupin does know when to back off, though--even though there wasn't room to show that either.

I blame Chiya's amazing "how Ryouma got Karupin" fic for rendering me incapable of picturing TezuRyo without Karupin as well.

when i feel sad i go back and watch the Karupin episode. (it's got Karupin! Worried Ryoma! Blushing Kaidou! Inui's "he's in a good mood!" toothpaste! need i go on?)
