Oh wow.  I think I've found my spiritual home!  ^_^

Could I share a rare heartwarming story?  I had a customer ring up looking for a book last week.  I put it by for her to pick up when she came in, and was actually a bit brisk with her.  She asked my name over the phone, which was irritating, because you just know they're only looking for someone ( Read more... )

It's good to hear a good story. I've thought about dropping this community because it's almost nothing but complaints.

I felt bad for being so moody with her at first, though. You get rubbish customers all day long, and just when you start getting moody, one comes along who makes you grin for the rest of the shift. Que sera..

And the grateful ones tend to be grateful when you do tiny little standard things for them -- and the miserable ones are ungrateful when you bend over backwards. Tsk. Biscuits, though. Yum!

Me too! Mind you, in my experience, the all-purpose STFU is to bark, 'I'm with another customer right now.' Even if I am, in fact, skiving off, and browsing a shelf for books I might like to purchase for myself. Well, I am another customer. Sometimes. :)
