Depends on the culture. Cultures that come from the old continent of Europe tend to have lots of legends about huge winged lizards that breathe fire, hoard treasure and eat people. Some religions even describe them as demonic. Places like Asia had giant serpents, like my tattoo, that were considered wise and lucky, sometimes even godly. Then you've got the really old cultures that're completely dead, like ancient Mayans. Quetzalcoatl was the name of their sun god, and he was a feathered and winged serpent.
