so the last three days have been kinda nuts for me; finished finals and started working again. i feel like i haven't even started any sort of break; i'm so exhausted. anyways, i've got thursday and friday off, so i can rest then. meanwhile, i've been catching up on my dramas. i've more or less caught up now. (warning from onward.. everything under a cut is spoilery, even if i didn't type that it contains spoilers)
i finished watching up to episode 8 of Witch Yoo Hee. i must say, i'm getting a bit worried that our supposed OTP aren't going to be the future OTP.
i actually can't remember much of the details from the three episodes, simply just cause i don't think there was that much in there. importants points that came up:
- most important: the OTP's not really progressing. i kinda don't sense the love between them. sure there's signs that they care for one another, but right now, it's kinda like the concern you would have for a rival: you guys don't get along and bicker all the time, but life would just be weird were they different from usual. that's the kinda vibe i'm getting from them two. i mean, i think episode 8 had the greatest amount of OTPness, cause they were "pretending" to be a couple. and there was that "sort of almost" kiss in that episode.. but either than that one episode, i didn't see them going anywhere much. the previews for the next episode didn't look like they would be getting very far. i expected them to at least be in mutual "like" by now; it is half-way through now!
- Mo Ryong's girlfriend Seung Mi will actually end up being pretty caught up in that little love "pentagon". i guess i'm now starting to see a relationship between the two (which was barely existant in the past few episodes). lately she's been pretty agitated with M Ryong being associated with Yoo Hee. i can't say that i dislike her yet though (as i immediately do with typical ex/current girlfriends simply because our otp doesn't really seem to be progressing as fast as i thought they would be. but she's showing signs of being a potential psychotic girlfriend. she's starting to act out on her own for Mo Ryong's "sake" before consulting him. but she ends up immediately apolozing... so i guess it doesn't really count. but whatever, i kinda see it (or maybe i just wanna see it cause i want this story to start moving faster)
- Joon Ha's fiance is non-existant anymore... but taking her place is......JOHNNY! okay i didn't write up anything about episode 5 (when he came into the picture) but looks as if the dude really likes her. and when i first saw that, i really had to scratch my head and go "HUH?!" i swear i had read in a plot summary somewhere that he would be helping our OTP get together. see i imagined him as the fairy god-mother type of person (since this thing tends to add in those fairy tale sequences anyway) and he would be creating opportunities for Mo Ryong and Yoo Hee to get closer together. instead, Mo Ryong's creating opportunities for those two to get closer (although, it really isn't working out). but really, what i'm most upset about is that Johnny's getting father with Yoo Hee than Mo Ryong. someone needs to get there loving moving already.
- lastly, there's a some secret between Joon Ha and Yoo Hee's father. man, what that is i couldn't tell you. #1 cause i can't understand korean (watched in subless) and #2 i doubt they even mentioned it. but that scene between the two was pretty sketchy. gets you thinking. and to me, it seems to have to do with either Yoo Hee's mother, or his breaking up with her the first time.. or hell maybe even both. well i really want to know what the heck it is!
but really though, the OTP thing is the one thing that's bothering me the most. the story's still full of laughs, just that it's starting to get slow. i guess i'll see by tonight's/tomorrow night's episode what's really bound to happen. i mean, if it really is a love story between Yoo Hee and Mo Ryong, it's bound to get moving soon right?
secondly i started watching Corner With Love. two episodes in and i'm so hooked. honestly, i was expecting it to just be alright.. but it totally had me after the first episode. hell it had me just half-way through. this really has a charm to it. i find that most twdrama's that i've watched.. they're so goofy. either that, or they're way too emo for me. i don't really like heavy HEAVEY angst, but barable amount. like Love Contract was good in my opinion, but that's about as emo as i can get i think. with CWL i find it's pretty balanced. it's got a lot of funny and fluffy bits but it's got an equal amount of drama in it.
the first episode is pretty introductory. our lovely couple is Xin Lei, the only daughter of some rich twn family in shanghai (lol, i can't remember why their rich.. don't shoot) and Qin Lang a chef at a twn restaurant. of course their meeting was at a corner (the title?), when Xin Lei's car crashes into poor Qin Lang on a bike. of course they mutually hate each other immediately, but that never last long. Xin Lei's got a super rich (and might i say really beautiful.. and no i don't mean hot) boy (i think his family own cartier or something, but again i can't remember). so whatever, she has to learn how to make an oyster omlette, and evidently, Qin Lang's the expert around town. she ends up having to ask him teach her, but it doesn't go as planned, and instead he ends up having to go ahead and do it for her. things work out well, and now the two are i guess (more or less) in better terms. a day or two thereafter, Xin Lei wants to thank him properly and she buys him dinner and they end up getting drunk; ahh good friends indeed. the next day however, her parents suddenly decided to file for bankrupcy (sp?) and make an secret get away in the middle of the night, leaving nothing to their poor daughter but a note that it won't be for long, and that they love her. really, stupid, really. so she has a break down, her fiancee (who's name i can't remember, yes i know i'm working off a terrible memory) hears the news, and immediately his parents want him to break off his engagement to her. at first he rebels and runs to her rescue. at the same time Qin Lang hears about her family's situation in the papers and also immediately leaves to go to Xin Lei's side. but of course the fiancee gets there first and Qin Lang sees and leaves feeling completely stupid to think that she'd need his comfort when she has her rich fiancee. really, i think at this point in the drama, Alan Luo (who plays Qin Lang) has more or less won me over. anyways, shyt happens, the fiancee tries to talk to his parents, but they won't budge. he eventually agrees to his parents commands that he break off the engagement, get engaged to someone else, and leave a broken hearted Xin Lei. although his reason was justifiable in a sense (he didn't want his parents to go bankrupt like hers) i still think he's an ass. some people might understand what he did, but i really can't. so Qing Lang finds her, dejectedly roaming the streets, takes her for a ride on his bike, they almost get runover, she breaks down finally, and he tells her to never give up, even if she falls. and now, i'm so hooked onto Qin Lang, it's not even funny. Xin Lei attends her exfiance's engagement party to show him exactly what he's decided to give up (and i applaud her for it) and the second episode ends at that.
so ya, a lot happened in those two episodes huh? it kinda reminded me of a cross between ISWAK and HYD. well, actually i think more HYD but a lot less drama. it has almost the same set up; rich girl, average joe. of course there's no f4, no lillies, and no evil parent trying to seperate the two (well at least up till episode 2 there isn't any parent trying to sabotage their child's happiness for the success of their happiness... unless you discount Xin Lei's (ex)fiance... cause his parents were the ones that forced him to break up with her when her parents went bankrupt and got him enganged to another woman. anyways, i've sneaked peaks at future episodes, and i must say, this really looks super good, for 2 main reasons:
1. the story progresses pretty fast. it looks like these two will be seeing some action pretty soon after the second episode, and since i hate waiting for any big developments, i'm really happy about that.
2. looks like there's going to be a LOT of kissing =P haha, i'm so a nut, but really i enjoy seeing lots of love between the OTP's.
i think this is going to be a really good one... really good.
i've also managed to watch the firs episodes of Proposal Daisakusen and Liar Game. don't have too much to say yet about either, since it's only been one episode. but both look to be very promising.
Liar Game turned out a lot better than i had expected. i hadn't watched anything similar to it's plot (i'm a total Romance/Romantic Comedy drama watcher) so i didn't know what to expect. but it turned out pretty damn wicked. might i say that Matsuda Shota is TOTALLY hot in it. i swear, the man's getting hotter and hotter every time i see him. i had to contain myself from screaming and melting when he first came on the screen. Shota as a genuis cool ex swindler... ya, totally hot.
one thing though that bothers me about the first episode: they already got so far into the game by the end. i think they were on day 7 maybe. really that was fast. they've got only a few more days till the end of the game, and everyday was spent with that one old man. i'm a but confussed.. aren't there supposed to be other people in the game? if it's only her old teacher.. are they going to drag that out (one day at a time) for the next 10 episodes (it's 11 eps isn't it?)? hmm.. i really hope not. it really did look good from that one episode
Proposal Daisakusen will be my third drama with Yamapi in it.. and he's playing a Ken again (his character's name in Stand Up was Ken), though both characters aren't very similar. so anyways, the first episode, was very cute i found. lol, much else to say but that. maybe when i watch with subs, i'll have more to say.
well, i do have another question about how the episodes will be layed out: is the entire drama going to be staged at that one wedding. cause from what i got from that first episode was that, for each picture, that old man person could send him back to before it was taken, and give Ken a chance to change that, so that he could change his future. now, it's a good chance it's going to turn out that way... but that seems kinda bizarre to me. ahh i don't know..maybe i'm just thinking about it too much
anyways, so that's what i've been up to between work and sleep. Bambino! has already aired in japan, and i'm downloading it as we speak. I've seen the first 2 mins from fluffy's vox, and pardon my shallowness, but gawd jun's so hot. lol, but no, the drama looked pretty good. i've been looking forward to this one now for a while (since hanadan finished). i can't wait to get weekly doses of Matsumoto Jun again =P but damn, my torrent is moving at like, turtle speed. what up with that?! anyways.. i'm going to take a nap, and hope it'll be done (or at least half way) by then.
