Did you expect the CDC to really give zombie survival tips? This was just their cute way of getting people to prepare for disasters... Since zombies aren't actually real, the CDC isn't going to provide a lot of zombie-specific information...

From what I heard about the CDC piece, I was expecting a little more zombie related preparedness.

My friends from work and I read it thinking it would be fun and slightly useful; it was neither lol.

Did you read Perks of being a Wallflower before seeing the movie? Was the movie any good? When I first heard of it I had major doubts about their ability to translate Charlie's backstory onto the screen. And then I didn't get to see it because I live on the island of Hawaii and it was a limited run movie.

I didn't see the movie, not yet. I don't think it had a very long run in my area either. I feel like it might come across a little better on film though because I had some issues with the narration.

Yeah, I really want to see the movie. I think it actually looks better then the book.

SO agree with you on When She Woke. The premise is very original but the writing just...fell apart. Have you read the author's other work, Mudbound?

The first half was pretty good and I wanted so bad for it to be fantastic and moving. And the dialogue, oh man the dialogue. Especially between Hannah and Aiden. If I heard one more 'my love' I was going to snap a twig.

I haven't read Mudbound, is that one good?

Haha yeah the dialogue was definitely ridiculous. And Aiden annoyed me (no surprise, since I felt the same way about Dimmesdale). Not to mention the inconsistent characterization! Sigh.

Personally I enjoyed Mudbound! The writing/plotting was overall much better. And it's historical fiction, my kryptonite.
