Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I actually read the vapid sequel to the equally vapid 'Girl in a Steel Corset'. The sequel is titled 'Girl in the Clockwork Collar' and the biggest hint that this was going to be bad was the model on the cover was East Asian. Stereotyping East Asians and the Irish? I am impressed, book. Except not really.

If you want to avoid bad steampunk, don't read the Iron Duke by Meljean Brook either.

To me it brings to mind dreadlocks, which can look nice but is almost certainly not the image the author was probably going for. "Coils of ringlets" would likely be better.

When I read the first book, I was under the exact impression that her hair was done in dreads, which I thought was interesting. I'm dissapointed to find out I was wrong, and also dissapointed that the author couldn't find another way to describe "dreadlocks".
