Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I actually read the vapid sequel to the equally vapid 'Girl in a Steel Corset'. The sequel is titled 'Girl in the Clockwork Collar' and the biggest hint that this was going to be bad was the model on the cover was East Asian. Stereotyping East Asians and the Irish? I am impressed, book. Except not really.

I've actually been meaning to read some steampunk books because I never have before. Thank you for pointing out which series to avoid. :]

If you want to avoid bad steampunk, don't read the Iron Duke by Meljean Brook either.

But he had a dick that women would die for and the protagonist was East Asian and everyone hates her because East Asians were horrific barbarians that ruined everything and left bastard children in their wake.

And let's not forget the part where he rapes her but it's totally okay because he didn't realise he was raping her, and she secretly liked it anyway! *gags*

I kept reading after that because I was still mildly curious about the plot, but then the book turned into porn and by the time I got through the back-to-back sex scenes I'd forgotten most of what was going on anyway. So then I stopped.
