Oh, these tales just get better and better. Sharp insight on the change in Kirk on how he will treat women in the future after the Narada 'incident'. Wish I could find a Giotto for myself.

Thanks, but I really have to credit Spockchick with giving me the idea for the change in Kirk. Her piece has meditations on each character responding to viewing Gaila's corpse, which is a tough read but exceptionally well done.

Giotto is modeled in part on a sensei I had in college (retired Marine turned Aikido instructor). I have a lot of Giotto stories sitting on fanfiction, but I reworked this one for a stand alone so I could finally finish the bingo card.

I love how you're adding more layers to Sam's life...and his dual function in this fic as observer/participant is lovely. Kirk's growing maturity is also lovely.

Thanks. He is usually more observer, but there is a friendship with Gaila and with Kirk now. Until they're really reconciled, that's a careful balance.

Kirk even in TOS was such a mix of mature and boyish that I always have difficult time hitting the right note with him in a fic that isn't pure humor.

I love your Gaila. Love love love her. Also, the bits with Jim having grown up more than a little bit made it lovely. :3

Thanks. I adore Gaila and I really, really hope they find some way to have her come back even if she's not on the Enterprise. So my proposal is to have her turn up as an SI and thry have a perfect back-channel resource.

Me, too! She's a fab character and I wish we had gotten to see more of her. :D And I like that idea.

Hope you like it. I write, but I can't claim to be a writer, so some is just there because I never throw anything away.

Thanks for a definitely non-dumb Kirk.

Kirk occasionally thinks with the wrong head and he's very, very young, but he's never stupid.
