"What is your favorite song and why?" requested by usakeh
AUGH NO OKAY THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTION EVER.
Like, I have been thinking and thinking and it is really hard, okay, to pick a favorite song. So I broke it down into categories. Because.

I, too, loooove P!ink and Vienna Teng and Dar Williams--"City Hall" and "After All" are two of my favorite songs of all time--and also FLASHMOBS OMG. Seriously, I don't know what it is, but really great flashmobs consistently make me so happy OR make me cry. Or both.
So, yeah. Thanks for the link to the "Ode to Joy" flashmob, and also the video of Vienna Teng's "Level Up"; I'd actually never seen it before.
Just out of curiosity, what other Dar Williams songs (if any) are your favorites?

Other Dar Williams songs I love include: every song on In the Time of Gods but especially I Am The One Who Will Remember Everything, Summer Child, and Storm King, Liar, Are You Out There, As Cool as I Am, It's All Right, The Easy Way, Buzzer, and February but mostly in the way that it makes me want to sob and punch things because it's so perfect and right but it saddens me.
But yes. AWESOME.

I think that at the moment, my Dar favorites include (but are not limited to): "Are You Out There?", "When I Was a Boy," "The Ocean," "February," "I Had No Right," "The Christians and the Pagans," "After All," and "The World's Not Falling Apart." If we're talking about most consistent over the years, it's probably "The Ocean" and "After All." But god, she's ALWAYS so good.
Now I'm curious, because of the overlap between some of our tastes but also the fact that I don't even know all of your favorites: what other Vienna Teng songs do you love best?
For me, right now: "Lullaby for a Stormy Night," "The Atheist Christmas Carol," "Shasta (Carrie's Song)," "Recessional," "City Hall," and... this may be cheating, but her cover of "Leaving Atlanta." With "Shasta," "City Hall," and "Leaving Atlanta" being the ones that most frequently reduce me to tears. ;)
