"What is your favorite song and why?" requested by usakeh
AUGH NO OKAY THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTION EVER.
Like, I have been thinking and thinking and it is really hard, okay, to pick a favorite song. So I broke it down into categories. Because.
1) Most Played Song: Raise Your Glass, P!nk

I love P!nk. I love her songs, I love how catchy they are, I love how angry they can be without apologizing for it. Raise Your Glass, though, it's celebratory. It's claiming weirdness (of all kinds!) and revelling in it, demanding respect for it, demanding happiness from the world. Plus it's fun to dance to!
2) Classical Music: Ode to Joy, Beethoven

Best piece of classical music ever with the best flashmob ever. It's so happy! I listen to it and it feels like flying.
3) Instrumental Music: Roslin and Adama, Bear McCreary

It's so lovely. I mean, it's just so gorgeous. It starts out sweet and soft and soars into triumph. Also, I ship the ship like FedEx, guys. Like FedEx. Hard not to.
4) Love Song: Just the Way You Are, Bruno Mars (Glee cover)

It's so positive! Perfect. And it's a nice commentary on most culture, I think: women keep getting told to change, to alter themselves, and this song is like "no, you're fabulous, exactly as you are." It doesn't even really say that the girl in question is objectively beautiful, just that the singer loves her, and thinks that she's perfect.
5) Love Song To Yourself: Fuckin' Perfect, P!nk

Does this need explanation? IDK if it does, but just in case: I think that it is the perfect song when you're unhappy. You are fuckin' perfect. I listen to it on repeat, and it helps.
6) Favorite Song: Level Up, Vienna Teng

This song just... it matters to me. So many songs say that you can make it on your own, you can manage, you can pull through. And yeah, that's an important message. But Level Up says it's okay if you can't make it on your own, it's okay if you need help, I'm holding my hand out to you. We can make it together. I have you. We can do it. And that means so much to me. There are so many people out there who hold their hands out to me, who are my brothers when things get dark, and it's just... this song reminds me that I just have to look up and see them. I just have to start, and they'll walk with me.
I love it. It's so important to me, and I love it.

This is surviving and recovering from depression in a song. I can't help but sing along. TW for suicide mention.
