Wow, thanks for the link - what a splendid building! My own favourite is Bristol Central Library. Its reference, archive and reading areas are as hushed and venerable as the outside suggests, and the fiction / general borrowing rooms are warm and friendly.

You're welcome. The link you offered is also fascinating ~ another splendid building. ('Splendid' is one of my favourite words BTW.) Although I'm sure they must be marvellous on many levels, modern libraries just don't have that special ambiance felt in old buildings. The National Library of Wales really does smell of books!

Where is your nearest library? How long does it take you to get there?
In town, twenty minutes walk away.

How often do you use it?
I’ve been in twice; once to check the place out, once enticed in by a book sale.

How old were you when you started visiting libraries?
Five or six… but I felt no real connection back then, and wasn’t really interested in taking books that I had to give back, rofl!

What's the first book you remember borrowing from the library?
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH … I don’t remember any earlier books. This was not long before I managed to finagle myself an adult card, anyway.

What's the last book(s) you borrowed from your library?
I think it might have been Tolstoy’s War and Peace.

Where's your favourite library? What's special about it?
Bristol Central Library. This is the library I was lucky enough to be using during my only intense library-using phase. It’s beautiful and has a lovely ambience.

We have a huge county system right in my back yard. I can walk to several branches and can drive in under 5 minutes.

How often do you use it? I used to use the library at least once a week, but have shied away from them lately because of the germ factor.

How old were you when you started visiting libraries? I've been going since I was a toddler.

What's the first book you remember borrowing from the library? An early reading series with "Jiffy".

What's the last book(s) you borrowed from your library? The Science of Fear

Where's your favourite library? What's special about it? Hogwart's Library.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen in a library? The other patrons.

Do you like your librarians? Do you even know them? I like some of the librarians. Others, not so much. When I was a child, the librarians all knew me by name ( ... )

Where is your nearest library? How long does it take you to get there?
The branch nearest to my home is about five minutes away; the city's "central" library is across the street from one of my work places.

How often do you use it?
At minimum, once every two weeks.

How old were you when you started visiting libraries?
Four years old, I think. We had this tiny one-room library in my home town, and my mom signed me up for a library card as soon as I could read.

What's the first book you remember borrowing from the library?
I think it was one of the books in that "Mr. Happy" series that was popular in the 80's.

What's the last book(s) you borrowed from your library?
Haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but The Orchid Affair by Lauren Willig.

Where's your favourite library? What's special about it?It's not a library any more, but our city's old Central Library. My dad worked there, so when I was younger, I got to spend time roaming around the stacks (a spooky place where my brother and sister and I posited one could hide a dead ( ... )
