Ok, to the debate... Infant piercings... in the previous posting some said they had no problem with certain piercings as long as the child was well informed while others said simply either yes or no depending primarily on location... Well what about ( Read more... )

wow... that was some really good information... and given all that information and the knowledge that most of the article was about the lack of sterility in the gun piercing, and knowing that infants are very unsterile people and will grab anything and then their newly pierced ears.. why would you do it?

Fuck no.

I've seen it done and the kid in question tends to cry until they're choking on snot and totally red.

I think that altering your child's appearance, or expecting them to alter it for you, is emotionally scarring and disgusting.

I wouldn't pierce my daughters ears but I had mine pierced when I was a baby, as did my mom, her mom, etc. It was more of a tradition for them I guess. I just want my daughter to have a choice in the matter although I always enjoyed having my ears pierced and never felt it was emotionally scarring or disgusting.

When you see it actually done the baby/infant in question is very distressed.

i've seen two kids get their ears pierced & neither child was 'choking on snot' or 'emotionally distressed' in fact one slept through it & the other cried far less than in the past when shes had shots. i'm sure some kids do scream & cry but thats not the case in every situation either.

I think the practice of piercing a baby's ears is disgusting. I would never pierce a child's ears unless they could consent to the procedure and understood very well how to care for the piercing.
