Oh wow... I have no idea how I would respond in a situation like that. I'd either be extremely hysterical or in total shock and speaking very calmly. As for giving the address on 911 calls, if I'm speaking on a cell phone I always give a reference to my location (like east bound on 24 between these two towns) and then proceed into the problem. That's how it's been drilled into my head since I was little.

She does seem very calm and rehearsed (heard door opening? No gunshot?). I really hope the child didn't see anything. =\

In situations like that, I have never taken a call where someone was that calm. I'll never forget the first 911 call I took where someone had found a loved one who had been shot. A man found his wife after she had shot herself, he was so panicked that I thought I was talking to a woman. I had to convince him to get out of the room because he was so hysterical looking at her that he wasn't capable of helping her.

I don't know if the children heard or saw anything. I really hope that they didn't. I know that I would not have stayed in the house.

It's all very fishy. I just know that most people would not think clearly at all when faced with a situation like that. She was just WAY too calm. And maybe my view is tainted because of the evidence about her searching the tank for the gun after they had already found it.

In the end, her children will be the ones who suffer the most. I feel mostly for them.

I didn't know are a 911 dispatcher (is that the correct term?). That's one job I don't think I could ever handle.

I was before I had the boys. Once I had them, I hated the shift work, always working the holidays, and if someone called in getting screwed into a double shift. I loved it though. Best job I've ever had! I quit about 5 years ago to do what I do now and it's just not as fun.

From what I read I think she may have done it too.

Would you let your kids wander around the house alone (all under the age of 5) had you walked into a situation like that?

I will perk up and say the address thing doesn't sound _that_ odd to me.

I've always been told to give my address first... and the only time I did call 911, I gave it before they even got past what is your emeregency?

Of course that was followed by, Who is this/what is your name, and I replied something to the effect of, "It doens't matter, 114 Kentucky Avenue, and we need an officer _now_."

(Theeen I called down.)
