The murder trial started today. www.wacotrib.com (
http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/stories/2007/02/06/02062007wacgentrytrial.html )has the 911 tape on its' site now. I listened to the tape and started thinking what would I have done in her shoes? She's very calm. I don't think that I would have been. I know that at least I would have been crying.
She started out by giving her address, before she even told the dispatcher what had happened. Never, and I mean never, did any 911 call I took start out with an address. It was usually, Please help me this has happened.
She goes on to tell the dispatcher that she heard a noise, the back door was standing wide open, all her husband's guns are gone, and she found him covered in blood and gurgling. Then you calmly hear her tell her child to go back to his room.
Imagine yourself in this same situation, you hear a noise, you get up, the back door is wide open, all the guns are gone, and you find your husband with a gunshot wound covered in blood, unresponsive and gurgling. Would you stay in the house with your three young sons? Would you tell your child to go back to his room, not knowing if there was someone still in the house with GUNS who had just shot your husband?
Later in the phone call, she tells the ambulance dispatcher that they don't have a home phone anymore, just a cell. All the more reason to get your kids and get outside. Especially considering that her in-laws live on one side of her and her sister-in-law lived in the house on the other side of her.
The more I read about this case, the more I think that she's guilty.
