Vicco Kentucky, the Smallest Town in the US to Pass an Ordinance Protecting Gay People

Colbert's audience laughed at the the accents, etc., but ultimately, they thought these people were pretty cool.

And yes, once again, the person most opposed was the town pastor. But I give credit to Colbert for showing the simple speech of a townsperson who can't reconcile what the bible says with his knowledge that gay people ARE born gay.

The mayor is a hoot. He exuded a very clear attitude of knowing he's good at what he does, so he can get away with being the person he is (I do much the same thing whether I'm very good at what I do or not).

I too was amused by the accents and language, but that's because that's what I grew up in the middle of and like me, I suspect a good deal of the humor for Stephen's audience also came from hearing that yokel drawl taking the opposite side of what we've come to expect it spewing.

And the unintended sexual innuendo coming from the cop/best friend was funny, and then he said he loved him like a brother and he would take care of him like a brother.

Then the applause. :)

Did you notice, too, how they are apparently allowed to smoke anywhere they want?

... MUCH better than the crap comment thread I found myself caught in last night. I did manage to rip myself away from that and do something more productive, like COSTUMING. Yes. ;-)

This is encouraging!

I'm glad you could walk away from the nastiness.

George Takei has now posted this on his Facebook page. He found it on Gawker.com. But I beat him to it!
