So tonight I thought, "I bet I could bake cookies! Children can bake cookies, after all, and I am at least as competent as an eight-year-old." I asked the Internet for a recipe that didn't involve anything not presently in my cupboard.

I thought we had a conversation about the unsweetened chocolate. I specifically remember holding the box and saying "Don't put this in your mouth. It's not sweet. You have to add it to a sugary mix." Clearly, I needed to be more specific.

In retrospect, I even remember that conversation. However, retrospect was unfortunately absent when I had a bowl full of cookie dough in front of me.
