I'm Losing at Updates Lately

Jun 25, 2006 22:13

So, uh, I'm staying very busy at work right now (as in, I'm having to under-report my hours to stay out of trouble with the business office), I've lost more weight and have no pants left that fit me (excluding a pair of khakis of uncertain origin that I found in the back of a closet, but I'm not about to look a pair of gift pants in the fly), and I ( Read more... )

I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Cyndi Lauper would demolish Amy Grant in a fight.

I think it depends on the type of fight. Cyndi would take Amy down easily in a physical fight, but I could see Amy being one heck of a non-literal backstabber in time-honored high school fashion.

A valid point, but I don't think Cyndi would let herself be lured into playing Amy's game. Especially since what I have in mind for them is more of a cagematch.

Ah. Cyndi for the win, in that case.

You may have to subject yourself to the grad dorms at Simmons. When I was looking into going there I started looking around at housing, and it's all hella expensive. Basically, your only option aside from dorm life is to sit on Craig's List although there's no telling what you'll find apartment or roommate wise. Usually, in Beantown you have to pay a finder's fee, first month and last months rent which is all pricey. Good luck.

I was hoping I could live cheaper off-campus just based on food prices (on-campus students have to buy the quite expensive meal plan, and I eat way less than I'd be paying for), but the rent I've looked at so far is scary. I'm just afraid to put in a dorm app yet, since you're apparently signing an agreement to pay for housing as soon as you apply for it.

Yeah, that's why I chose Kent. Out of state was equal to Simmons, but my one bedroom apartment with utilities is only 495 a month. That looked a lot better than the 1500 a month with partial utilities. The cheapest I've seen has been 1200, but I have no idea what neighborhood in Boston it was in. While the meal plan is pricey it may be better than your alternative.

Hmm, the dorms with meal plan work out to be around $1,000 a month, I think, so I need to see if I can beat that. I really wish Kent would have been less stingy with their monies, because I'm sure I could live more cheaply there than in Boston, but alas.

I'd start by checking oot where everything is. I'd be disappointed to discover that there's no Google Earth plugin / Google Map interface that puts the Boston transit stops over a streetmap. Anyway, you can figure out where you have to go, how far you can / want to travel each way, including how far you want to walk to a stop, and work backwards from there to see where you can live. Of course, there's buses and the commuter rail if you choose to live outside of Boston (price!), so plenty of options from the MBTA.

Just remember, "The T" is apparently driven by customer service according to the website. Not, you know, bus drivers, which is what my first choice would have been.

Thanks for links! Drivers or no, I am a fan of the mass transit.

That's more fun than it has any right to be. I wish it would load faster for me. Also, I wish I had a real Axe of Steampunk with which to smite my foes.
