Last year, the third-year home economics class subjected the staff room to coffee jelly and confronted me with the horrible fact that there is, in fact, a java-related foodstuff that I find unpalatable (and this is coming from someone who has, on more than one occasion, eaten coffee grounds). Actually that doesn't sound like caramel, but that plum extract popular over there. But we don't really have a word for it, so maybe they call it caramel?

I'd go for that if the teachers hadn't been referring to it as "kyarameru" and wincing when they tasted it. I think every single one of us left the bottom part of the dessert sitting in the cup.
