EPISODE REACTION POST: ARMY OF GHOSTS GOD

Having missed out on being able to do a live reaction post for the brilliance that was Army of God, I decided to nick some of the reviews for BBC One's new flagship archaeological drama Bonekickers straight from Wikipedia. That's about the extent of the effort I'm willing to put in. POST YOUR EPISODE ( Read more... )

I think the Indy review has it bang on. Matthew Graham set out to write the least-likely-to-ever-be-made pilot script ever, and received an unexpected greenlight. THERE CAN BE NO OTHER EXPLANATION.

Was that it, though? Was that the least-likely-to-ever-be-made pilot script ever? Will the show suddenly redeem itself next week and prove to be Life-on-Mars-tastic?? I hope not.

Nonono, essential to the least-likely-ever-to-be-made pilot script is that the fundamental premise of the show is laughable. While the details added unexpected hilarity, certainly, there's enough of inherent air of Monkey Tennis about the THRILLING ARCHAEOLOGICAL ADVENTURES OF SOME MAVERICK ARCHAEOLOGISTS DOING ARCHAEOLOGY to ensure next week will be every bit as cack.

I MUST FIND THIS PIECE OF GENIUS.
I sincerely hope BBCA picks it up when they have a lag in programming and have rerun Robin Hood a few thousand too many times.

Well, you linked me. And I agree with everything above and all of those reviews (are any of them contradictory? I'd still agree though, my mind has divided itself into factions after that episode).

Is it complete TV tack? You know what the sad thing is? Just can't tell anymore. I'll still be watching next week. And the next. And probably the next. Because I haven't watched anything that hilarious since, well, Life on Mars.

Use your archaeological imagination. There's possibly an oxymoron contained within that sentence.
