Having missed out on being able to do a live reaction post for the brilliance that was Army of God, I decided to nick some of the reviews for BBC One's new flagship archaeological drama Bonekickers straight from Wikipedia. A touch melodramatic in places (such as those two lads in the bedroom) but, over-all, I rather enjoyed it. Brave choice for an opening episode, diving right in there with Christ and the Knights Templar. That left me feeling a little bit, well where do you go from here? But we've got a possible slave ship in the Bristol Channel next week, so nice to see it's not shying away from big issues (slavery can, quite rightly, still be a sore subject in Bristol

There is bad, then there is awful, then then god dam abysmal then there is Bonekickers this is all I have to say.

It's got a good cast and good writers, but last night's episode was like Time Team meets Highlander meets Indiana Jones!
It did start well and I think I like the characters, it was just a rather heavy story for an opener. And the scene under the dovecot... seriously we're meant to believe that in 700 years no one had thought to uncap the well and go down there. Did I miss a scene where that was explained?

I still think it has potential though so hopefully it'll pick up next week.

eta - Just found a review on the BBC News website that isn't exactly glowing, especially considering it's a BBC programme - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7496797.stm

This is the most terrible thing I've seen in ages and I love it. Totally addicted. Currently warbling between "they meant to make it this bad" and "They thought this was good TV?"

So pleased someone gets it!
