LOL, I do know of the Thrilla in Manila sir, but thanks for the link. :) He was rapping about the Thrilla in Manila and rambling about INXS coming here and witnessing the excitement and blah-blah-blah. He's a funny guy, that JD. :D

OMG you were there too? Where were you? :)

We should always ring each other up and find out whether we're going to these things at the same night or something. Hahah. :P

Some fantasy fiction you may be interested in, based on titles alone:

This novella is more about the painting than the song and isn't available on these shores, unless you make a special order, I guess.

This novel is available in Fully Booked though, as well as several of the other novels in the sequence. Check out those titles!

OH! The first one made me squeal. Seriously. How do you find these things, sir?! These are great gems! I love the painting and the song equally, and the book sounds really interesting. Of course, I won't be able to read it anytime soon but well... I like knowing it exists. :)

But the second... wow. I want that book (and all the rest of the titles in the series) BADLY. It sounds so cool. What better way to resolve political turmoil than with rock stars? That's what I always thought anyway. ^_^ Available at Fully Booked? Do you mean the one at Rockwell? Might there be one in Greenhills, by any chance?

I have this masochistic tendency to always try to be updated on small-press titles. The one who released the Chadbourn is one of those publishers I've always been interested in but have yet to acquire any of their releases. I'm more interested in his horror writing--like "The King of Rain--but this one caught my eye, too, even if I'm not that interested in Faerie and stuff like that.

As for Jones, the short story that became the basis for the first novel is available online if you want to sample her style (perhaps not so much the story, since the world she depicts is obviously far bigger in the novel sequence). Incidentally, I first read that story in an anthology that you might find interesting: In Dreams: A Celebration of the 7-Inch Single in Original SF and Horror Fiction.

FB-Gateway has it, and I presume the Greenhills and Rockwell branches do, too. Give them a call to be certain. They may even hold it for you for a day or two.

That's just... painful, sir. How could you stand it? I can't even browse Amazon without feeling the agony of lusting after something I can't have (because those are the things I usually yearn for. LOL. Out-of-print books and I have a complicated relationship.)

OH, that's why his name sounded familiar. "The King of Rain" was an... interesting read. Especially at 3AM. Did I ever tell you that? Yeah... I read it at 3AM. :P For atmospheric purposes.

OHHHH MY LORD. That anthology sounds great! WOW. I WANT IT. (See? This is my problem with mentioning books that I will never get to buy. *whimper* Although I just received a paycheck to be able to buy a new book, I have to save up for something that I actually NEED. Oh, the inhumanity of buying things for SCHOOL instead of LEISURE.) :(
