rollercoaster (!!)

Oh, the last week has been frenetically up and down. November is such a bipolar month. Dissolving into tears at the slightest thing one minute and then upupup!! the next. Saw Nana on Wednesday - she's looking terribly frail, like if you touched her she might snap, all bones and paper-thin skin on a body that used to be snuggly and buxom and full of ( Read more... )

Oh my dear! I adore that new index page. It's just so Cambridge, and so you. And the guestbook! I love the picture... I spy cheekbones. I'm just about to go and find another contemporary speech to do, and then I might even look around a bit for interail prices and things. Also: I go back to Stratford on the 7th Jan for the 8th. Just so you know...

I like them too. not so much the index page, but the guestbook image ... that's the kind of feel I want. So far I have three subsections made but no main layout, nothing to tie them all together, and I kind of have a mismatch of styles so far. Not sure what I'll end up using. So I'm sitting here eating bananas and listening to to Venus and Back instead. It's all good.

January - whatever we do I'll try and clear off by the 4/5th. New Years sounds good. Also I just bought my train tickets and I'm definitely in Plymouth on the 14th, so if you want to meet up for coffee/cocktails, give me a ring on the day. Probably easiest.

Good luck speeching!

hello,
i stumbled upon your journal and decided to add you.

it's quite an interesting coincidence that i found you, because i'm going to cambridge in december, for my interviews (english at clare). and i'm kind of a wreck right now, not knowing what to expect, how to prepare and so on.
i was wondering if you have any advice and what you think of studying in cambridge?

this is indeed a huge coincidence - I was looking at your site just yesterday (and loving it, incidentally).

as for cambridge ... hmm. My own interviews were just talks, really, rather than question/answer sessions ... just me and the interviewer talking animatedly about something we were both passionate about. As long as you have ideas about what you've read and can articulate them intelligently (and are prepared to critically rethink them) you should be okay. Most of the people here, when we've talked about it, said they had a laugh with their interviewers - so I guess try not to be uptight. I actually really enjoyed my interviews, but then I wasn't really nervous, so I don't know what advice to give if you are. A little apprehensive, of course, but I was looking forward to talking to experts on my subject about something I loved. Look at it that way? Maybe it'll help.

Email me if you like. When are you coming up?

xx
