[As she concludes her conversation with Kyon, Yuki feels the uncertain tremblings of something in her chest.  . . . Her heart.  Her constructed heart.  She stares blankly out the window for a few seconds before walking quietly out of her room, down the stairs, and over to the phone.

When she picks it up, there is a long few moments of quiet

Clarification. One person has reported that he is in a town that others have called Westport.

[hwamei]

One person... [She falls to her knees. The question of whether Japan, Vietnam and the rest are alive or not still stands.]

... Westport. Where is that?

[bogusmagicker]

[Her eyes flicker briefly to the side.]

Please provide your date of arrival into Mayfield for ease of explanation.

[hwamei]

November, um... twenty-eight? Ah, last year.

[bogusmagicker]

Ah.

[Yuki pauses for a few moments before her voice comes back on the line.]

In May of the previous year, a path to a neighboring town opened and the residents of Mayfield were invited to a celebration. This was Westport. Upon arrival, all that could be seen were ruins. The road to Westport closed the next day, trapping those remaining inside.

[hwamei]

You'd expect them to do something like that. [ Then she realizes that she'd have fallen for the same trick, too, if she was there. If she remembered she was there. She bites her lip and there's a short pause. ] What happened next?

[bogusmagicker]

. . . I was not present. However, those entrapped did not return for a week and later reported severe physical trauma inflicted by the 'hazmat men'. The death toll was not rivaled until the return of the hazmats in Mayfield last October.

[hwamei]

[ She puts a hand over her mouth. The hazmats. That was familiar. If they were as ruthless as Hong Kong said they were... ]

That person... [ She means Kyon. ] Whoever might be there. We have to get them out.

[bogusmagicker]

That is of the utmost importance. However, aside from destruction of the alien life form, I am uncertain as to what may be done.

[hwamei]

[ She doesn't know what to do, either. She hates this. Why did they have to go?

Alien life form? You mean the statues, right?

If they're aliens, then the Doctor can help with that!

[ Granted, she knows only one alien. ]
