A handful of Arthur/Eames fic recs

Das Vorbewusste -- fic by anon (AFAIK)weatherfront (thank you, meiface ). SO HOT. Yet it has a distinct lack of porn; just Eames being smart and Arthur going ♥__♥

Towards Zero -- a fic by mirabella. Fantastic read and slightly dreamlike in its style.

Now for some Eames love! ♥

I also see him as coming from a rich background - and I see him as the kind of person who would get bored of that kind of thing and then go off to find some excitement in a gambling den, not being too fussed if he wins or loses to begin with, because he's got money to burn, but then becoming increasingly pulled into it... which is where I see his interest in other people beginning. He'd begin observing his fellow gamblers, try to work them out, perhaps at first to read other people's poker faces, but then he'd have so much fun that he just enjoys working people out.

Yes, precisely. That's exactly what I was aiming at. xD I think he does what he does because he loves to get into people's minds (pun unintended, promise) and work out what makes them tick. A lot of people seem to think he's purely in it for the money, but I really don't think that's the case. I think he's a thief and a gambler because he likes the thrill and excitement, and a forger because he genuinely likes people. Just looking at the way he was with Saito when Saito ( ... )

the part where he makes sure to repair the relationship between Browning and Fischer after the inception was complete (by apologising to him as Browning) because he didn't need to do that at all, it had absolutely no bearing on the job, but he went ahead and made sure that the closest thing Fischer still had to a familial relationship was left intact.

I forgot about that scene! Yes, that's a perfect example of how much Eames' cares about other people. :) I think that there was a bit of a double-meaning there; he was both apologising to Fischer in-character as Browning, in an attempt to try and help fix Browning and Fischer's relationship, but he was also sort of apologising to Fischer for what happened to him with his father and the safe (if you get what I mean?).

Friended you back, bb! :D

LOL, I have a couple of friends who thought he was funny, but don't quite get why I love him so much. :3 My little sister loves him (even though she hasn't seen the movie) just because I talk about him so much and tell her how awesome he is. xD

I agree with everything in this post pretty much. XD I don't understand how anyone who watched the movie could come away thinking Eames wasn't brilliant. If it's solely based on the spelling and math exchange, that's kind of ridiculous. You can be absolute shit in some areas and still be very intelligent.

Very true! And it's not even a maths vs english/numbers vs words thing -- I have a friend who struggles academically but is really very intelligent when it comes down to social interactions; she's completely on-top of the game when its about fashion or how to act in certain situations. :) Whereas I find numbers really difficult but words and music are the easiest things ever. :)

Eames was so freakin' brilliant the entire movie -- that action sequence down the mountain was amazing -- I remember walking out of Inception the first time I saw it, going "I need to see it again. I need to know that guy's name. He was awesome." (I admit, I didn't know anyone's names the first viewing; I was too busy trying to understand the plot. :3)

Thanks for reading and commenting! :D

Exactly! I have a friend who is the same way and I think she's brilliant.

YES! His badassery in the snow was pretty incredible! Like, seriously, how can a person be that awesome and badass on skis?!

Every time the camera cut away from him I was like "WTF ARE YOU DOING CAMERAMAN I WANNA SEE MORE EAMES!" xD It was seriously awesome -- he managed to ski backwards, down a steep slope, whilst avoiding trees, and still took down a shitload of projections who were armed and on snowmobiles and stuff. ♥__♥

It has been confirmed that Eames does indeed have a military background, so you're assumption is correct. I also agree wholeheartedly with the person above who said, "he doesn't openly flirt that much at all" because they're correct. Eames doesn't *actually* flirt with anyone in film - accept for a couple exchanges with Arthur that came off as being somewhat flirtatious. I am of course referring to the famous "darling" scene, along with the adorable "be back before the kick" exchange.

Anyway. Before I go on a tangent about how utterly AWESOME Eames truly is, I'll just stop here and say: I AGREE WITH THIS POST. ♥

Ooh -- do you have a link to the article/interview/whatever where that was confirmed? I sadly came several weeks late to the Inception party, so have read very few articles and what-not about it. :D

I guess Eames' in-fic flirtatiousness comes from his overall personality in general -- he comes across as the sort of person that would flirt a lot and sleep around, but we're never told or shown anything of the sort (I mean, he never even pays Ariadne the slightest bit of attention beyond her architecture).

And that "be back before the kick" exchange makes me melt every time. *_* It's unbelievably cute, yet only lasts a matter of seconds. I'm convinced Nolan privately shipped Arthur/Eames, then threw in Arthur/Ariadne because all good movies need a romantic subplot and Cobb was busy mourning Mal. :)

Thanks for reading and commenting, bb! :D

I read about it over here. I kinda figured as much - what with the way he handled himself in the third level dreamscape and all - but it's still nice to have it confirmed.

I noticed his lack of flirtation with Ariadne as well. He didn't even call her by any pet names, which I found most intriguing.

LOL. I tend to have to agree, although I saw more Cobb/Ariadne then anything else, and personally I love them as pairing because Ariadne was the one person who was able to get through to Cobb. Still, you're right about one thing: Nolan is definitely an A/E shipper. XD

Thanks so much for the link! :D That's really interesting -- it makes sense but I now have to fit it into my personal backstory for Eames, lol. :3

The vibe I got from Eames the entire movie was that he was gay. I'm not entirely sure why -- it wasn't like he acted camp or stared at guys other than Arthur, but seconds into his first scene I turned to my friend and said "betting on he's gay". xD And that was before the darling and the Arthur-pestering. xD ( ... )

THANKYOOOOOU!! :D I love you. I seriously never get why everyone always thinks of Eames as less intelligent than everyone else. I think everything you said is pretty much spot on :D

It also gets me that fanfic authors make him really camp and say "darling" all the time when he only says it once in the film... but that's a rant for another day ;)

I got the big letters! YAY! \o/ I love you too! :D

I think Eames is a tiny bit camp in comparison to the rest of the guys in the movie, but not excessively. :) It's more his speech patterns than anything else, I'd imagine. :D

I have personal canon that Arthur and Eames used to be together, and when Eames calls Arthur "darling" it's harkening back to then as well as said to wind Arthur up. :3 But that's just my take on it. :D

I do agree. I suppose it's part of what makes him so lovable ^_^ It's just when some people make every second word "darling" grr :P

:O Yesss, This makes perfect sense!! *sneakily adopts cannon*:D

Yeah, that gets on my nerves too. :/ IDK if I love it or hate it when they also have him saying "pet" and "love". :/ I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND. D: D:
