ii. the jasmine dragon

Feb 23, 2009 10:14

I found uncle's tea shop, the Jasmine Dragon. It looks almost exactly like the one in Ba Sing Se, just smaller.

It smells a little strange. No one's been around here for a while I guess.
But I'll get this place up and running in no time. Uncle would've liked that. My tea isn't as great as his though--and I should learn how to make ...coffee, was it ( Read more... )

Yes, make coffee. Coffee is a wonderful thing.

...also, coffee comes from beans, not leaves.

Beans. Okay. And then you add hot water, right?

A lot of people seem to know about the stuff. What's so great about coffee?

...kind of like that.

It tastes good, it keeps you awake and...I don't know why else. I just like it.

Can you try the first cup? I don't want to serve everyone disgusting bean juice.

Well--I don't want to serve you disgusting bean juice either but ...I could use some help.

I was told that my friends used to run it, but ever since they disappeared, no one took care of the shop. My name is Zuko.

Oh yeah... that could be it. I haven't seen any cat owls or ostrich horses though, and those are pretty common.

I'll notify you when we're open for service. There will be tea and coffee. The tea will taste better, most likely.

Just cats, just owls? You're kidding...

Coffee is made with ground beans, and there are several different kinds. It's usually better with certain flavorings, like vanilla or almond, but there are quite a few people who prefer it plain.

It seems coffee is more popular than tea here.
I'll take note of that, thanks. What do the beans look like?

The beans are actually inside the berries of a coffee plant. And they look kind of like this [He draws a coffee bean.]

I think you can get coffee beans from one of the shops, though.

Oh... I didn't think they would be so...bug-like. I'll keep an eye out for them in the shops. Should be easier than looking through the forest.

The Jasmine's Dragon is opening again? I'm glad you're carrying on with it, Zuko.

Yeah. I'll try to make tea as good as my uncle's.
How did you--must've known the other Zuko. The previous one.

Can you reintroduce yourself?

Oh! I apologize for that... My name is Stella. Stella Coolidge. It's an honor to meet you again, Zuko.

Oh. It's nice to meet you too. I look forward to seeing you around the Jasmine Dragon. What kind of tea do you prefer?

Hm, at home there's more tea shops around, but there's always coffee shops popping up all the time. I just don't prefer coffee though. 'Gets me too worked up and jittery. Don't need that!

Nothing wrong with tea though. Green tea is pretty popular where I'm from. Not so sure if you can find the leaves here though. It'd be nice to have a tea shop around in any case! It'll remind me more of home.

And hey! 'Bout the animals thing! Something weird about them?

Good to hear. I was afraid no one would be drinking the tea. And it's a tea shop. Soon I'll stocking on every type of tea leaves I can find, so hopefully I'll come across some for green tea. I'll let you know.

They look very different from the ones in my world. It's annoying when you see all these creatures and you have no idea what any of them are.

Thanks! Good luck on your search! I'm sure the tea'll be awesome, no matter what the kind! 'Looking forward to it!

Oh? What kind of animals did you see in your world? I'm a hedgehog from where I'm from!

Quite an upbeat attitude you've got there. I hope you won't be disappointed.

Komodo dragons, turtle ducks, hippocows, moo-sows... I've traveled enough to see almost everything. But I never saw anything--Anyone--like you.
