Holy shit is right! Though strangely my anxiety has gone down in general since making this choice.

Theoretical control of one's own destiny is apparently really good for me.

Oh man. I love the idea of F&SF, but I'm not sure I'm right for it. I will, however, cheerlead in your general direction. Pom-poms and everything. :D

I'd love to get to a point where I finish multiple book-length projects a year, and supplement that with some fun crowd-based projects. Hold Something was lots of fun, so I'm looking at ways to build something like that in. I'm also hoping to get back to writing poetry regularly. Maybe self-publish a chapbook. I'd also like to anthologize the stories from Hold Something at some point. I'm really proud of a couple of them.

Wishing you all the best! Another friend of mine started writing full time last year after being laid off, and she is very happy.

How's the health care situation working out in this for you? I think that would be the scariest part for me.

The short version: "Um. Fuck if I know."

The long version: I had a physical on the 2nd and my bloods are good. I'll be filling everything I can for 90 days next week before the insurance runs out. Once the job ends, I'll be seeing what I can get under the ACA with none/limited income. Oh, and my doctor's in my corner re: helping me navigate state assistance. SO. We'll see.

Yeah, it's weird in that it feels like good choices. Like, I am trained to believe the opposite.

Fuck training. Freak out and make stuff.
