We went to the animal hospital with Mike to visit Gabrielle. She was looking fairly good, despite the enormous bandage on her hurt leg. She was having trouble getting around, because the foot is covered by the bandage, so there's no traction on that foot and it tended to skid out from under her. Gabs is doing well. The doctor wants to keep her there one more night so they can change her bandages more easily. Hopefully J will feel less tired tonight so we can go visit her.

The vet just called--her temperature is now normal, so the infection is presumably under control. Bloodwork unremarkable, so they'll proceed with surgery shortly and call afterwards. I also gave them permission to clean her teeth, as long as she's sedated.

Maggie and I visited the MTU yesterday. It was great to see everyone! Apparently they're finally getting a new supervisor in the new year (note that Neena left in August 2004). Maggie tromped up and down the therapy stairs and desperately wanted to play with the therapy balls. Everyone commented on how tall Maggie is now, and how she looks like ( Read more... )

Daily subcutaneous fluids.

Poor Jeremy: who will have to give daily subcutaneous fluids.

Poor us: $75 for a couple weeks' worth of fluids, special food, and special powder to put in the food.

Sigh.

My poor grey cat has kidney disease. We're going to have to give him subcutaneous fluids and a special diet, poor kitty.

Hopefully he'll respond well.
