First Fox, now Oriental City (ne Yaohan Plaza) has been bought and is to be razed and replaced with boring non-Asiany-goodness stuff. Like a hardware store and flats. Poop. Someone is trying to make things I like that I don't visit enough go away. What's next on the list, the Prince Charles Cinema and Regent's canal (can you tear down a canal?)? Is

It's mainly Japanese but it's been getting more and more Chinese, Thai, etc stuff over the years. It's not got much that can only be found there, but it's the density of stuff -- no where else have I been able to find so many options in one place.

were i not brassic i would love to. the crockery store was always the one i lusted after stuff in but could never afford to buy from....

well, i guess we'll have to learn to cope with running round chinatown again.

there's a japanese supermarket on brewer street for the japanese only stuff, and the rest is only a few streets down, it's just not got so much in the way of non-food japanese stuff.

shame, there's a big enough oriental community to support it, and the food stalls will certainly be missed - esp the south east asian ones which remind me of food from singapore which is hard enough to get at expensive prices...

I suspect it's the fact that you can now buy the basics of Japanese food pretty much at any supermarket that has been causing the place trouble. But where else can I buy bento boxes? I mean nice ones. With lots of compartments and seal up really nicely so they won't spill on your way to work?
