There is something wonderfully terrible about the devotion of the great Kali poets, particularly Kamalakanta and Ramprasad. In their poetry and their worship, they are saying, in effect, "Do whatever it takes, Mother, to bring me to you. Shatter me, if you must. Destroy me. I don't care. So long as you do not withhold yourself!" Such spiritual ( Read more... )

Wonderfully terrible words bobby1933 June 26 2012, 02:18:12 UTC
I struggle with the idea that God is everything and i am nothing. It is, of course, a spiritual truth; and i am kind of a down-to-earth sort of guy who doesn't quite know what to do with such ideas. I believe that the mystical poets were not writing to tell other people what to think and what to do; but those whose lives were consistent with their words were writing truth which was not necessarily inconsistent with totally opposite ideas. "I am nothing." but, "God doesn't make trash." I think it all has something to do with ego. If i associate myself with what i say and do and believe, then i will continue to get in the way of my own understanding of things. If i "let Go and let God" then the wisdom of seemingly contradictory ideas will become clear.

And now I need a "Love" button.

Domesticated gods are tragic. And dangerous. They have very long teeth and no inclination to share blood.

Because i rely on "visual and oral communication" to comment on what i regard as invisible and silent, i cannot help but try to domesticate my gods to some degree. Even draculas become twilight pretty boys, some of whom use blood banks in order not to violate the customs of the living among whom they unlive.
