It's cold. It really is a little too cold to do anything involving the melting of glass. When i work, i have 2 giant windows open with a fan going. When its 30 degrees outside, and my house is covered in shadows, being in an open room with a fan going just seems a little stupid. i suppose maybe flameworking just may have to wait till spring, or ( Read more... )

This one really happened today!! Yay!

OK. So. i tried to make a mushroom pendant with a backround of 2 hills, the Sun, and a blue sky.

The Sky & Sun turned much darker than the color-rods originally were. i messed up the 'squishing' of the pendant, and had to re-align the 'flat-ness' of it...which made ( Read more... )

i tried to silver fume this thing with some silver cord that i got from a bead shop.
um....that didnt work...
when i silver fumed the other 2 pendants, i used an old silver chain bracelet that i cut into tiny pieces.

i learned to make this vortex by reading a little picture-tutorial, on Glassartists.org.

The inside, vortex part, turned out pertty good! but the outside color turned into this ugly, friggin, band-aid color.
The vortex was supposed to be yellow and dark green, but the dark green color turned pink!

A pendant i made for my mom's birthday. Made on 9/21/07.
Eh..... It's all small and squished.
First attempt at a pendant that isn't silver fumed inside.
i tried a dark mix of colors, as the bubbles, inside, and a lighter color for the back (amber-purple. i didn't realise that the tan color would actually turn purple! live and learn...)

This was my first attempt at a pipe. made on 8/29/07.
i was paying too much attention to one little spot, and not enough attention to the end of the piece that was cooling off too much. Right as i was going to pop a hole for the carb, the mouthpiece-end got all those stress cracks. i gave up on the carb and just finished the mouthpiece, so it didn't ( Read more... )

This was the first Pendant i ever tried to make(i wear it now). made on 8/21/07.
Since then, of all the pendants i have tried to make, it is still the best.
The loop was easy to make, and perfect.
i learned how to make it by watching this Youtube video: Flipped Honeycomb Pendant
