I really like reading about why people choose the characters they do and what it is that draws them in.
Let's face it, those of us in fandom tend to be interested in a lot of popular media so what draws us to writing in a certain fandom/writing about certain characters within that fandom?
Theoretically, we're just as capable of writing about X canon we love as much as Y can we love so why do we only produce work for X?
Looking at the list of works, I'm a little blown away by how much CM stuff I've made. I had no idea when I started watching that show that it would produce so much interest in me. And it's not as though the show is terribly original either.
There's a pattern in the characters and themes that compel me. Those are predictable. But how and when I choose to exercise those impulses seems to be a bit all over the place.
We share favourite characters - yippee! Finch/Reese foreva! And Henry and Abe - I adored those two - and still occasionally write them, because they deserve it and the relationship was so brilliant.

I'm drawn to the same genre and the same type of characters all the time but what makes that impulse to write kick in.
