A catch-up meme stolen from
umadoshi:
So what have you been up to? / Major life changes? Same old same old?
I pretty much spent the summer fretting, which as we all know, is completely pointless. But what can I say? I'm amazing at it >:/ I'm still adjusting to working from home, and I'm trying to figure out how to balance a reasonable amount of stress

I've tried Tumblr a few times, but it just makes me start feeling like that old man you mention and I can't, I just can't, particularly given my (un)naturally high levels of facetiousness. well that and the spoilers. Ack!
THERE MUST BE MOAR PENNY DREADFUL NOWWWWWWWWWW!

Ugh, the fretting. The worst part is that you can convince your conscious mind to give up on it but then your gut goes ahead and makes its own damned decisions >:/
I keep thinking that I should try Tumblr (apparently CM is much more active there) but the idea of dedicating time to figuring out how to use the site effectively makes me grumpy. I SO am that angry old guy down the street...

In my case it settles into my neck and shoulders and I get to the stage where I barely turn my head. Good times... not.
Tumblr is actually pretty easy to use, well as easy as setting up an LJ. Then you have to work out who to follow and what tags to look at. The problem, for me at least, is that there's no other way to filter it. So if you put something on the tag anyone can see it and beat a path to your door to tell YOU HOW HORRIBLE YOU ARE! There's also no way to have a conversation other than reblogging with comments which isn't the same thing at all. It's like yelling into the void and then hoping for evidence that someone heard you. This could just be me and my grumpy knickers though as other people seem to love it.

I agree with you about fandom - there's very little conversation about. Although I suppose that might just be me, since I don't feel I'm particularly in any one fandom now. And most of those I 'talk' to on LJ don't particularly share my fandoms. So it becomes more generally chat, which is fine, but not the same.

I was feeling so incredibly nostalgic and sad this evening over my first few years of LJ fandom (2006-2009ish). Some of the best days of my life. I don't know how people are getting that out of tumblr, but I guess they are. sigh.
And I really need to watch Hannibal. And a whole bunch of other stuff.

My first 4 years here were awesome - I miss that. But my account here is permanent and I re-wrangle my preferred setings with every update, so I guess I'm in it for the long haul regardless of where fandom skips off to.
Watch Penny Dreadful too. And sense8 and Daredevil (if you have Netflix).
