We had some weird-ass weather today. Huge, roaring winds, sheets of rain, and even a smattering of snow (though I only heard about that). A tree came down along the main road near me, but they cleaned it up really quickly, so I only really saw the chopped bits ( Read more... )

The Poisonwood Bible was such a good book. I don't really remember all the characters any more or anything, but I do have a vague recollection of the plot, and I remember just how divergent the paths of the sisters were right at the very end, and that was fascinating to me.

You're right about Rachel... interesting isn't it? I was sad that the youngest daughter had to die and we never got to see the long-term effects of the experience on her though...
That's probably just the psychologist in me.
It's such a tragic story, very depressing and hard to read at times... it was hard to see the father run his family into the ground by making them stay in Africa, but I feel that Kingsolver did give us an idea of African village life during that time and even though it's just a novel it has some important things to say.
