American Idol Poll!

May 28, 2008 11:21

Edit: I realize now that I spelled Ruben's name as if he were a sandwich. Make of that what you will, but realize that I know my mistake. Stupid un-editable polls.

It's been a LOOOONG time since I've posted a poll, and now that I'm trying to deal with life after AI7, I figured no better time than now!

The fact that I just did this poll from my phone is impressive, as is the fact that I even watched more than a few minutes. The things I do for you J.

I love that the S7 contestants most looked forward to singing together are DCook, JCas and MJ. Lmao!

Hee, seriously. I am really excited for the Cook/Archie duet, but I cannot WAIT to see DC and MJ perform together. Throw Carly in the mix and I'll die happy. :D

That was my choice--MJ, Carly, and DC FTW!

Whee! I have no doubt that if they get to perform together, it's going to be amazing. I wish the concert was coming here first again! Last year spoiled me!

based on that poll about who signs with who I'm starting to think I'm the only person who sees MJ and get's uncomfortable. His...wiggling and waving his arms around on stage isn't sexy, it's awkward. I always feel like he doesn't know what to do with a mic.

Hahaha. I like MJ, but I agree. I did NOT see the sex appeal everyone else apparently did. I mostly started to love MJ because he was Cookie's BFF and yeah, I'm that lame, lol.

As much as I like David Cook, I'm not sure he's good enough to compete in the general music market. He took AI by storm because of his ability to choose good covers and then built on his charisma and I don't know if that's going to translate to independent success. Plus, I don't think he's a very good singer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him, though. If he makes something softer than his first album, I'd be really excited to hear it.

I wish Michael Johns had gone further. I thought he had the total package and would have liked to hear more from him.

Hee, it's funny that you post this today. Billboard info for last week was just announced and, well, I don't think Cookie has anything to worry about right now.

I'm not saying that gurantees him a career, but the fact that he sold over 230,000 units of a (crappy, sappy) coronation song between early Thursday morning(the single was released after the finale aired in Hawaii) and yesterday is just astounding to me. That's only 40,000 copies less than the record breaking "Umbrella"(which sold 277,000, but had a full week of sales). Idk. I just think this bodes very well for his career. YMMV. XD

Oh, and I forgot to say that I have to respectfully disagree that he's not a good singer. His vocals on Little Sparrow, MOtN, and ISHFWILF show the versatility in his range. The studio cut of MOtN is pitch perfect.

Well, Idol fervor is always at a pitch post-finale and pre-tour. My concern is that he won't be able to hold on to the momentum he has now long enough for his album release to see comparably flattering numbers. A fair number of Idols seem to run into that problem.

And I can't comment on his studio tracks because I didn't like his live versions enough to buy most of them. I'll admit, I'm biased against singers who sound better in the studio than they do live (Adam Levine, I'm looking at you). Then again, I'm not devoted to Cook the way you are, so apologies if I harshed your squee. :)
