everybody go read this tutorial by kawaii_chicken because it's amazing and inspiring and reminded me of why I love icons and art and all of that. SPECIFICALLY the video, watch that video because it's full of so many fun ideas (done very very slowly :P I also recommend skipping through the slow parts)

Oh, freaking yes to all of these. I've looked through that tutorial and video at work and just couldn't just wait to come back home and just try something new. And yeah my tablet is not that funky but he got everything right, and i got my painty brushes. Pen pressure is amazing.

I don't really want my icons be just a cheap knock offs, but damn that's like a whole new world and that is freaking exciting :]

YES! I remember a stage in my icon-making when I had the huge revelation that the smudgey letsey-x light blobs (that I was using ALL the time) didn't just have to be white... I could add any colour anywhere I want. And I could change the original picture as much as I want without having to be restricted by the colours of the original picture!! There are infinite possibilities!

But... along the way, that kind of got lost. And this tutorial brought it all right back!

DOUBLE YES!! Not only you can adjust the existing colours of the image but you can bring your own to the table. I just love that feeling of freedom.
