So... over two years ago I went to New York for a week and I was determined to record it to the best of my ability. I wrote a diary and took about a million photos and here it finally is! The diary is unedited from the day I wrote it after we got back. The photos on the other hand have gradually worked on over the past two years (and not ( Read more... )

haha pretty much. I've had this archived away forever and I wanted to read it over for spelling errors etc but about a third of the way though it was like "eh screw it, nobody's going to read this far anyway" XD

I think what is interesting about me and my take on art is that my biggest strength is also my greatest weakness and that is that I approach it primarily from an aesthetic standpoint. So all that stuff about saying something about the world is nice, but it doesn't mean a lot to me.

But this also brings up another topic, if I didn't put any story behind these shots then why do you like them? Really, I was just having fun experimenting with how many different ways I could colour the shots, how many different interpretations of 'yellow' I could come up with without looking the same? can I do light? can I do desaturated while still having the same impact as the saturated ones?

wow. you make me wanna go to new york.
tbh I was very much against going to america about 5 years back. by now I've changed my mind and I'd really like to go there. I'd love to have that "it's really like you've always seen it on tv" - sort of feeling.

I only read paragraphs here and there, but I mostly enjoyed the pictures. I'd have liked to see all the people you were talking about, though! not enough people shots!

yeah, it's so weird because you realise that all of these famous movies based in New York are just imitating the real thing so you find yourself wandering through all of these movies all of a sudden :P

Yeah I don't know about that... I feel kind of weird taking photos of people if I don't know them... even with models at the beginning I feel a bit creepy
