Cats: Nature's Way of Cheering Us Up

Yes, I'm still alive. Yes, I'm still writing. :-P (Exchange mods, I think I need to make a sacrificial offering to you. Or something. I'd offer my firstborn, but I suspect you wouldn't want that. Blonds, maybe? Covered in chocolate?) And yes, I'm still crazy busy ( Read more... )

*hugs you hard* It'll get better.

Loved the account of Othello! We used to have a cat that I swear understood mirrors, and just liked admiring himself.

~big hugs~ Oh, thank you for that. I know it will get better, but sometimes it's a bugger to hang in there. The last few weeks have just been rough all over the place, for a number of reasons--can't even tell if my horrible headaches have been a result of chronic stress or the crappy weather. At least I can look forward to the winter break soon, so that will be a welcome rest.

Oh, Othello enjoys mirrors in general. He's always preoccupied with them, but this is the first time I've seen him make a connection between his movements and the reflection, which just amused me no end.

~squish~ Thanks so much, Scoffy. &hearts The tunnel can't end soon enough for my liking, but it's easier to keep going when you get that glimpse of light, you know?

But at least it will be over soon, and my worry/stress load will be reduced. Maybe then I can start to feel merry, hmm?

~adores you back~

Aw, hon, sorry you're blue... try to get out walking in what sun there is when the days are this short. I've found starting a new project cheers me up.. not that I'm hinting at fics or anything.. ...:D

Thanks, Syd. You're right on both counts, too. I normally spend some time outside every day, but lately it's just been very dreary and dark. Sunny today though, so I took an extra-long walk on campus for no reason other than that it felt good!

And heh, yeah, creativity and projects. I haven't had a chance to work on anything but my exchange story in months, and I'm really anxious to get back to it. I think that will help a lot, actually. I'm never happier than when I'm writing something that isn't my dissertation.

D'oh, and I forgot to say again how much I'm enjoying your new panels for Trains. I just love what you've done with that Snape--he's so rough and worn and embattled, but yet he keeps going. With that short hair and lined face, he has the look of a scrappy-yet-noble, down-on-his-luck prizefighter.

Sorry to here that you've been feeling down, hope it'll get better soon!

They really are. I'm so grateful that I have the cats, really. They never fail to make me smile, even when I'm feeling bleak.

~hugs~ It will get better, I know. At least some of the stress should be gone soon, so that's something!

I missed you, but thought you'd prefer maybe to be left alone for a while, especially as you are very busy at the moment.

*hugs*

You can e-mail whenever you feel like it, you know that, right?

Silly, delightful cats! :D

~hugs~ I might take you up on the e-mail, because... well, it's not just one thing, but rather a lot of things, and I have a feeling I sort of need to get all this out. Somehow things always seem more manageable once they've been articulated, you know? I am busy, but strangely, that's more of an annoyance these days than a worry. It doesn't even crack the top ten of my current preoccupations, I don't think.

Cats are indeed silly delights! My world wouldn't be half so bright without them.
