Drabbles of a Snapely Nature

Oct 14, 2008 15:15

I was going to post this earlier, but then there was the phone call about Dad's results, and I had other business to arrange and some research to do and appointments to make and... ~flails~ Anyway, now I'm getting around to posting another mess of Snape-centric drabbles, mostly from snape100 challenges ( Read more... )

Very fun. I still think you should do one for All U Can Eat. It'd be fun!

Hee! I might do it yet. One of the people on Snape100 requested that I write about Snape going to visit Old Country Buffet for the first time. ;-)

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed the drabbles!

That would be something else.

I'm sure you'd do it justice.

Wonderful drabbles! They were all great, but my favorites are "Follow the Red" (the way I wished canon had turned out!) and "Let Them Hate Me". I always wondered how new teacher Snape handled the older students who still remembered him as a student--but clearly it wasn't much of a problem! ;)

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I actually really enjoyed both of these as well, because they gave me an opportunity to write about things that are part of my Snape's backstory. "Saved by Fawkes" is my favorite theory for Snape's survival (it makes such thematic sense--I have NO idea why JKR didn't use Fawkes' loyalty in some way), and I've always been intrigued by the problems Snape would have faced as a very, very young teacher starting out his career teaching some of the same children who would remember him as an outcast and victim. That's so dangerous when dealing with kids that age--I swear, they sense weakness like sharks sense blood--but I think he would have dealt with it by creating a new persona for himself: the Potions Master, who is tough and unassailable and completely in control. It's the perfect armor, and it explains why we get such a split between Snape as he is when in charge of a classroom, and the more vulnerable person beneath, whom Harry only glimpses at certain times.

These were all great! I really love the last line of 'Our New Celebrity.' I don't suppose there is an errant porny plot bunny for All You Can Eat is there?--so cruel to tease us that way. *snerk*

Heh! I'll have to see what I can do. At the moment, the exchange and RL have fried my brains, but I might have a go when I'm less stressed.
